I did not order the 2GB RAM upgrade since they overcharge so severly on that. Does anybody know if installing my own memory will void the warranty? Also would this memory work

Also does anybody know if it has two dims open when I receive it? Or only one since the 1GB installed is taking up one?

2nd Post! Thanks for the help in advance.

If you ordered it with 1GB it will come shipped with 2 512MB sticks on RAM.

That ram should work...I actually bought it for my Dell E1705 before I sold it, and as far as I know installing ram doesn't void the warrenty of your Dell! :)

The Dell XPS M1330 will come with 2 x 512 mb RAM if you ordered 1gb, it's usually standard for Dell to provide them in Dual Channel mode.

And as regarding RAM questions, just refer to this thread:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=138110

Provided that the speed, type (PC2-5300), and latency are the same as the m1330 ones, then the RAM should work.

Upgrading RAM or Hard Drive does not void the warranty.
