Hi, I have just been looking at the Dell xps 1330 laptop and found, to my amazement, that the led screen in not available in Canada (where I am). Does anyone know why this might be and to whom I might direct complaints about this. I don't understand why it would be available in the States but not here. Much thanks for your time!

The LED was available in Canada until maybe a week or two ago... It was actually half the price as in the US ($150 CAD).. I'm sure the lack of the LED as an option is either them correcting the price or stocking up, since the pictures on the Dell.ca site are still of the thinner LED screen version.

However, if it is a stock issue they may go the US route which was to increase price so that the supply could match demand...

    Hope this helps.

Search the forum and you'll find what some of us had to say on this issue. The other news I got is Dell is expecting mega sales between Thanksgiving and Christmas in USA and most of them prefer LED backlit LCD display with their higher end configurations. So it makes sense to reserve the LED backlit screens to those who spend more in higher configurations.

Hi, thanks for the information. That gives me hope that the screens will be back in Canada at some point. Could you give me an idea of where to find the other threads/posts on this issue? Searching led 1330 Canada? Thanks again!

Holding hands and doing the work for them doesn't teach anything. ;)

Hi, I am very grateful for the help and I appreciate your time in giving the information to me. I have searched but not found anything, which is why I started the thread. It can be hard, sometimes, to find the right combination of words that will yield a helpful search. Also, there is a 1330 thread but it is so long that it is very hard to get through (although I am starting to read it from the beginning). Anyway, I just wanted to let all posters here know that I am grateful for their generous giving of time, thanks, Yasmine

Just to let everyone know, I have tried going through csrs (several of them) to try to get the led screen but have had no luck. I am basically wasting my time with Dell Canada. Why should I even bother with a company who so manifestly does not want my business and treats my country as disposable. Too bad.

That is exactly how I feel yasdaz. I won't buy from dell.ca now.

And I hope you ignore some the less than constructive comments. Forums become a primary social outlet for some - which is certainly not an issue and can be positive - but inevitably some people start to take themselves too seriously and become desperate for approval.

    Pretty much where i stand...

I started out dead set on getting a M1210(earlier this year) then i held off on the santa rosa update... then it happened with a total refresh of the laptop(M1330) I also saw that the inspiron also get refreshed and could now hold a 8600GT. I made the decision to move to a 15" laptop mainly for that reason(and since all my current bags fit a 15.4" laptop snugly)

Now i'm just waiting for the prices to better reflect the canadian dollar. It hit par a few months ago, and the dell prices fluctuates on a daily basis, but they have not reflected the better buying power yet(which can only be described as greed by dell, since all the parts are stored and bought in america)

Now i'm on the fence. I COULD wait it out longer and get what i want from dell, assuming they ever stop treating canadians like idiots who up their profit margin per computer by ATLEAST 25%, or i can go back to getting a compact computer from bestbuy/futureshop which are now selling a select few machines at the same price sold in america(Gateway T-6816 is $800 in canada. Its AMD version[T-1621] is reg. $950 in america)

It sucks, cause you would THINK dell would be the first/fastest to react to new pricing schemes... They must sell through their stock(which is merged with american stock) faster then any brick-and-mortar store. They are either incredibly inefficient, or are just taking every opportunity to rip canadians off.

Hi, I might be able to get one through a kiosk but I guess it is a crapshoot if supply is limited! I am still p/o'ed at Dell; this is no way to do business. I would love to know the real reason.....

Dell is a business, they're out to make money. If it means they'll make more money by only offering LED screens in the US, they'll do it and not think twice about it.

If you don't like it, there's no point in pissing and moaning about it. Let your money do the talking and don't buy from Dell.
