I've got a Dell XPS 15 9560 laptop that was giving me zero issues until yesterday when it suddenly blue screen crashed with kmode_exception_not_handled

Looking at the event log, the only errors I was seeing were:

The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000001e (0xffffffffc0000005, 0xfffff8063705b2f5, 0x0000000000000000, 0x00000000795ed0a8). A dump was saved in: C:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP. Report Id: 4245c8fc-0a2c-4b23-a9d0-7eec6a32e249.

    and

The cphs service terminated with the following error: No more data is available.

I was also consistently seeing 2 warnings for:

The driver \Driver\WudfRd failed to load for the device USB\VID_138A&PID_0091\691aa8002573. (and a different device)

(I've since realized that warnings + errors may not actually be something to worry about, but wanted to include them).

My device manager has no unknown devices. All drivers are up to date, windows update is up to date, BUT I seem to be unable to update the BIOS. I am on 1.15 and trying to upgrade to 1.18 just fails - I launch the "installer", but when it reboots it never flashes the update it just gets back into windows.

Sometimes the computer can run for minutes or hours before the crash, including crashing when it's just sitting there and I've gone off to do something else.

On top of this, sometimes the computer won't boot up. From power button to dell logo can be upwards of 30 seconds, which seems longer than I remember it ever being? Worse, sometimes the power light comes on and after roughly this same length of time it just goes out before hitting the dell logo.

    I have tried:
    • Disconnecting battery and AC only
    • Trying one (I have 2x16GB) ram in at a time
At first I was thinking battery-less was working fine, but then I eventually hit the exact same crashes/failed boots. So far I haven't exactly been able to get through a configuration that reliably works.

I'm generally tech savvy and comfortable enough to do some hardware+software stuff. I'm totally fine to reinstall windows, however I am having trouble narrowing down where or what my problem actually is, given that sometimes windows is just fine and other times it seems to crash/turn off before ever getting to loading windows.

Greatly appreciate any troubleshooting or advice you guys may have. Laptop is out of warranty.

As of right now I cannot boot up at all. The front LED is blinking 2 orange, 1 white... Which seems to indicate a CPU failure (but POSSIBLY related the HD graphics is being problematic? I don't know...)

I can't seem to DO anything on the laptop given the dell screen never pops up, so no BIOS or anything. Is there any other way I can test/verify the CPU failure? Is that realistically something that would effectiely just randomly happen overnight?
    The CPU is i7-7700HQ
