What is the battery life of the 6 cell for the xps 1530, If I am using the battery I will probably only be web browsing, note taking and using light programs. Do you think I will be able to get at least 2 hours out of it?

Also if you order the 9 cell do you get the 6 cell too?

No you won't get the 6 cell when you order 9 cell, you'll have to pay extra to get both.

I think the 6 cell will last a bit more than 2 hours browsing the web. I have the 9 cell and it lasts over 4 hours

I get 2.5 - 3.5 hours from mine in power saver mode, so 2 hours is no problem

I got the 6 cell. I will test it out and see how long it lasts with the new LED screen. Probably pick up a 9 as a backup.

Why are Dell batteries so much? It costs like $300 for a 9 cell..

And does anyone know the cost and quality of the Dell Refurbished batteries on the Dell Parts website? It doesn't list the price.

Short answer...fire destroys largest battery manufacturer in China. Prices have gone up due to shortage. Consumer once again is the victim.

The battery price is so high because the manufactures factory was involved in a fire. Wait a bit and I am sure they will go down in price.

I remember something like $90 for an extra battery? Anyway, any results on your battery life Phallus? I'm curious to find out the battery life improvements with the new LED screen.

i would recommend you getting a 9 cell over the 6 cell. I had a 9 cell with my old 1505 and I got about 4 hrs. Now with my 6 cell on my M1530 I could get about maybe 2 hrs. Had my M1530 for about three weeks now and I think I used my battery maybe twice.

I have a 6 cell battery in my M1530 and I've gotten 3-3.5 hours browsing the web and chatting from one charge of the battery at medium brightness. My CPU is undervolted to 0.975V at the fastest power state. You could probably even squeeze more time out using XP instead of Vista.

i get 3.5-4 using Vista's power saving features on a 6 cell. I have brightness set to the bare minimum.

I get about 3 hours with the 6 cell on my 1530, using the balanced power plan. ;)

I alternate between the 6 and 9 cell also: 9 cell at home, 6 cell for when I'm "out and about". :D

I guess I'll wait to get it then, I was going to get the 9 cell it was $160 (Canadian), I would rather save that to get a better graphics card or screen.

yeah batteries are pretty overpriced atm imo... all because of some fire in China or something? ah well... I got the 6 cell as well, two hours is good enough for my needs :)
