    Hi All

I'm about to buy a new XPS 1530 but I'm worried about screen reflection from the newer glossy screens, which give me migraine. I would like the matt screen, but don't know how to specify it and also wonder about the performance difference between the different types.

Any advice? Or maybe another manufacturer would be better?

I have tried a co-workers HP laptop and found the glossy screen great for watching DVDs but useless for doing work in strong light environments.

I don't thing the matte screen is available for the M1530. I switched from matte to glossy when going to M1530 and got used to it very quickly, it looks great, even outside in the sun I was able to work on it.

If you want other notebook recommendations (with matte screens), fill out the FAQ and post it in the ''What notebook should I buy'' section. There are many alternatives to the m1530, although they might cost a little more.

Dell's glossy is not as glossy as HP's screens.

    I agree.

....After getting used to it, I love my new Dell glossy screen compared to my old standard screen.
