Hi there, I'm new to these forums as well as the notebook scene. Every time I buy I new gadget, I'm always amazed with the wealth on info on boards like these

Recently I traded in my desktop for a xps 1530. And I'm very happy with my purchase.

I currently have the standard 2GB DDR2 667 Ram modules from dell. Browsing my local PC supplier webpage I saw that 1GB DDR2 800 sticks from kingston retails quite cheap.

I'd like to know if it's a worth while upgrade. I know the CPU supports a 800 FSB (Intel T7500), the my lowest score in the vista's performance analysis is the RAM. So I'd like to know if I'll see a performance increase if I upgrade from 667 RAM to 800Mhz RAM. Does the mainboard in the XPS 1530 support 800 MHz FSB for that matter?

    Thanks!!

The current Santa Rosa platform that you have only supports RAM up to 667 MHz.

yeah I agree that is usually the low point on the "experience index" and I have 3 gigs??? all I know is it is fast so I don't put any stock in that...although updating vid drivers rose the vid score !!!LOL!!!

No difference for the 800mhz ram and remember you only have 2 slots in laptops to put the ram in.

The bus speed depends on your motherboard's specs. A faster RAM will not make a difference.
