I'm very close to ordering a Dell XPS 1530. While doing some casual research about the laptop on this site I was disturbed reading about (and seeing the pictures of) the aweful grain on some XPS 1530 screens.

From what I gathered from this site thus far, this grain problem seems to only effect Samsung LCD's correct? And from the post #10 in the thread below, it seems there are no WXGA Samsung screens (resolution is 1280x800 I think) for the XPS 1530.

I am ordering the WXGA screen (supposedly no Samsungs), so I should be okay right? Just verifying b/c I'm currently living in the Caribbean and returning this laptop (if it were defective) would be a major, major hassle.

    Thanks.

um there are 3 threads with polls about the screen manufacturer for each of the 3 resolutions floating around. I believe the general trend was that most people who ordered 1440 resolution got LG, and very few did for the other 2 resolutions. And some people like their samsungs, might be subjective.

Um, I don't have time to check all the poll posts in this forum. Especially when I'm not sure if they have the info I want. And yes I did use search. But thanks anyways for your help.
