Anyone here have this machine? It's incredible. If I am going to use it for home, I changed my mind about getting another laptop. For a few more hundred dollars, I can get this machine. It's crazy. WOW!
Anyone who has this machine please give your insights and if it has any problems.
Also, should only hardcore gamers get this? or could it be used for extreme studies, office use, and entertainment. I won't be playing a whole lot of games but I will be multitasking like opening 5 explores, msn, words, powerpoints, etc.

Might want to consider posting this in the "desktop hardware" section--you'll likely get more replies.

Yeah, you definitely won't need an XPS 700 just to have 'five explorers, msn, words, powerpoints, etc.'. You could get a cheap laptop or desktop with Core Duo and 1 gig of RAM and it would tackle all that easily. I know a guy with a Pentium M, 512MB of RAM and his taskbar is always full. He has like 80 running processes. And his computer is not slow. The XPS 700 is not necessary if you are not a hardcore gamer.

So the xps 700 is basically for gamers? It wouldn't be needed for home use for education and office?
-
Oh god no, the XPS 700 is a very very high-end gaming machine, its not inteded for people who are just going to use it for everyday suff. If you want a dell desktop built for that, then look at the Dimension E510, or if you do want to do some gaming, the XPS 410 would be good for that.

High end gaming machine -
Dimension - Everyday stuff
XPS - Heavy gaming
Precision - CPU intensive apps -
No. If you're in need of a desktop, look at the Dimension line. They will cover all you need, especially with the new Core 2 Duo. Their graphic cards aren't the best, but if you're not into gaming, then it won't matter. And if you want something with a good GPU but nothing as intensive as an XPS 700, take a look at the Gateway FX510. You can get it with a Core 2 Duo, 2 gigs of RAM, a 512 x1900 w/Crossfire and a 21" widescreen high def monitor for about the same price as the XPS 700 starts out. Of course the best solution would be to just build your own. You'll save a ton of money and get a more powerful system.

It's a little too much for everyday use but it would be super fast then right?
