I've had several screen replacements in the past in my XP M170 and M1710. Almost all replacements have been due to annoying dark corners in the bottom left and right. I have always demanded LG replacement screens but I have found that every screen has darkened corners.
My question is has anyone got a 17" LG screen without dark corners and are Dell's lappies cheap because they use screens that trip up on quality control?
-
OH BOY! Here we go again, more complaints....
What are "dark corners"?!?! Now you're going to have all the OCD members thinking that their once beautiful LG screens have a defect too! -
lol do you have a pic of you dar corner. I have had several dell laptops and never had dark corners
-
If I buy XPS I expect premium quality in components too (not just service).
Do you work for Dell? -
-
No need to get defensive, I just would like to know what are dark corners? I dont think many have heard of a problem of "dark corners" in the LG screen. Apparently you seem to be the only one with this problem. If you've received numerous replacements for the same problem, WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU KEEP THE LAPTOP! Obviously Dell does not meet your quality requirements. Get a refund and buy a HP or a Sony.

If I buy a new car and it has a cracked windsheild and they replace it wth another cracked windsheild...I DON'T BUY THE CAR! I dont keep letting them replace it!
Especially 3,4, or more times? THERE ARE ALOT OF LEGIT COMPLAINTS on this forum but let's be honest. ALOT of posts on this forum are from people who just like to complain, will never be satisfied and will find fault in everything they see. The DVD drive is too noisey the screen is too bright, dark corners on my screen, my hard drive get too hot, my hard dive makes noise...the list goes on, and on. Even the grainey screen problem is very subjective. Many people love and dont have a problem with what others claim to be grainey screen. In fact, there are many who didn't have any complaints until they started reading posts about it on this forum!
If after Dell attempt to replace/repair and the same problem keeps on happeneing obviously that my be how the part is intended to function, if it doesn't meet your standards....GET A REFUND!
My first 1530 had a couple of dead pixels, Dell replaced it and it was fine. If the next one had dead pixels the NORMAL thing would to do would...get my money back.
I think these repetive post are just annoying and take away from those who do have legit complaints.
Sorry if I offended anyone...just MHO -
@MAC5217 Here, here!

I returned my 1530 after using it a couple of days and knowing that the screen was of poor quality. But, I can understand those that tried to stick it out and get it fixed multiple times. The 1530 is an amazing machine. I would even say it's the best laptop overall if it had a decent screen. Even though I knew my screen was not good I pondered keeping it, but in the end the screen is just too important.
My 1530 had dark corners. I don't know about 17" LG screens, but I know it can happen.
I'm sure there are people on the forum that only notice their screens after reading posts... I think they need to compare their screens to another equal resolution and sized screen and not make decisions based on forum posts. It is very subjective but I think if people saw a bad screen and good screen side by side it would be clear which is better.
The fact that Dell uses 3 types of screens and there is an overwhelming consensus that the Samsung screen is bad with pictures and first hand experience can't be all imagined. -
Seems like I'm not the only one having this problem...

Although it's under warranty I don't think I can get a refund after the 14 day period.
I can continue to tear up your 'useful' contributions to this thread but I think most viewers can see your flaws for themselves.
Oh, and some HP laptops also have the same problem.

I think your honest opinion needs some revision... -
While I agree that many people wouldn't notice certain flaws/deficiencies in their laptop until reading these forums...
and some people will suffer/complain way too much to get something fixed to the nth degree...
it is probably better to have whiners/complainers/finicky people/perfectionists in the world to keep companies honest, fair, and producing the highest quality for the lowest price.
To anyone who has complained to a company and/or suffered through the process of getting their product fixed/replaced...
Thank you for your contribution. -
I don't care anymore... -
Your perception of dark corners may just be related to viewing angle. This would probably be more pronounced on a 17 inch screen because the corners are further from the visual axis. I have never seen a perfect laptop screen.
-
Dark corners are still there if you view the screen at various normal viewing angles.
Only on extreme left and right viewing angle do they kind of disappear but that is irrelevant. -
My question to you was simple. Why would you keep accepting bad replacements from Dell??? Again, no need to be defensive! How many bad replacements are you willing to accept? Dell has a 21 day no question asked return/refund policy. If you keep getting bad screens...just get a refund! -
I went around and found that two of the three M170's have dark corners and one doesn't. M1710 also has dark corners. All have LG panels.
More examples necessary?
I can't get refund. -
Like I said.....you seem to be the only one with this problem with LG, SORRY!
-
And to answer your question.... no, I dont't work for DELL...I work for LG!
-
I'm not the only one:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=199805&highlight=Dark+corners
For LG and Samsung panels (see post by sleey0).
I think you really ought to push off now... You're ruining this thread and the reputation of this forum -
Only joking about working for LG! You obviously can't answer my questions, so I'll leave it alone. But members on this forum have the right to post their opinions, its not reuining any reputation....THATS WHAT THESE BOARDS ARE HERE FOR! Its people like yourself, who ruin the reputation of this forum.

You choose to do things one way (return an item without looking for a solution or trying to work for one) while others might try to jump through some hoops for a fix. You way is not the only way and it certainly is not the only right way. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone is entitled to be a pompus jerk, as you clearly are proving. Stop bashing others for the path they take. Oh wait "'you have the right to do whatever whenever however that is what this forum is for."
-
When did I bash anyone??? I just wanted to know why not return the laptop if you keep getting bad ones? And stated my opinion about alot of bogus complaints. I was the one who was bashed for expressing that opinion. Maybe you should read the entire thread BEFORE you respond...your own post makes you sound foolish. If you did you would see I was the one attacked.
-
-
Both of what you quoted were simple questions I asked. Where did I bash anyone, as you stated? I never said my opinion was the only right one, no one opinion is %100 right...thats why they are OPINIONS! You can disagree, but why attack me? I even apologized if I offended anyone. You seem to be the only doing the bashing. You look keep looking more and more foolish...you should quit while you still have some dignity....

Back to the topic, it seems that there are many others that have the same issue for some\most WUXGA LG panels on Dell and HP machines.
Does anyone have a similar panel that doesn't have these defects?
Thanks in advance.
