I don't know if anyone's posted this, or if this is anything at all, but I searched "XPS M1210 site:dell.com" on google and got this link:
http://www1.euro.dell.com/content/topics/segtopic.aspx/listing/nono?c=no&cs=nobsdt1&l=no&s=bsd
It lists multiple configurations of the XPS M1210, in Norwegian, with Norwegian prices. Using google to convert the Norwegian kroner to American dollars, I came up with the following:
$1,309 American
$1,800 American
edit: It's on the German Dell site too, and it says the release date (I think) is 5/30 (Monday May 29 in the US)
-
Great find.
I hope that the 7400 is optional for every xps1210 model. At 1800 thats a good price but I would rather put the 7400 on a system with slower components to lower the price. -
Wow, good fine. Confirms a lot.
-
Good find! It's a little expensive right now but I'm sure it will come down in price. When is it comming to the US site?
-
Looks like no one else posted this yet.. all the more better. -
Two other Dell sites (The Netherlands and Belgium), both of which have the same configurations of the XPS M1210 with a release date of 5/30 (5/29 in the US):
The Netherlands
Belgium
Note: The prices are quite a bit higher than the Norwegian site, but also different on The Netherlands and Belgium sites. -
sounds awesome but im just in debate whether this screen will be too small for normal use.
-
well, if u factor in that dell usually prices stuff cheaper in the us, this is shaping up to be quite a bit better deal then i ever imagined.....this summer i'll deffinatly pick one of these up instead of the toshiba m100 or asus Aj8m.
-
I'll probably buy whatever falls in the $1300 range. I have a Dell Inspiron 9200 right now, but I'm looking for a second laptop for law school (as lugging around the 9200 is not practical).
-
Wow, on the Netherlands and Belgium sites, the higher-end of the M1210 both fall between [EDIT] LMAO, forgive my mathematical ignorance!
-
Nice find! I've updated my list of similar laptops:
http://brainimaging.waisman.wisc.edu/~tjohnstone/light_lappies.htm -
The higher-end m1210 on the Belgian site is 1,786 which is $2,283 US. -
^ Yeah, I admit my lack of mathematical prowess.
doddles, are you sure the Sony SZ is only around $1400?!
EDIT: Nevermind... I was excited until I tried configuring it a little bit.
=)_ -
Yeah - I've put down the absolute base configuration, but the price for a typical system will be considerably higher.
-
Please please please please be <$1700 Canadian.
-
The specs seem very good for a small notebook. The design is typical Dell...old and boring imo.
-
So this notebook will basically cost the same as an Asus W5j with comparable specs. Hmm...Dell or Asus?
-
It does look old. but the specs are good. if I didnt have my sony szz160 I would buy this on the basis it has a 256 7400 vid card in it and knowing dell, they have a good ext battery for it.
-
Wow 12" do you think they'll come out with a 14 or 15 inch?
-
-
If one selects the NVIDIA GeForce Go 7400 instead of the Intel GMA 950, how does that affect battery life?
-
Battery life definitely decreases. I would guess around 20% decrease when comparing the 7400 and 950GMA. However some underclock their 7400's by quite a bit when there not gaming to get better battery life.
-
Check out Portableone.com for an awsome 14" MX, but for me 12" is perfect. She may be ugly but she sure can cook. Only drawback is they don't have EVDO express cards on the market yet.

Sweden.
They are probably waiting for the clearance from intel to sell them at the new price (after 28'th may).
Raptor -
That would make sense so the XPS 1210 would reflect the new pricing.
In terms of battery life, I think the 1210 should get at least 4 hours. Even with a 7400 its only a 12 inch so battery life should be good. -
-
too bad dell goes with such a generic look for a xps. Its as good or better in specs than my Sony sz160, but just looks soo outdated

usapatriot Notebook Nobel Laureate
im not planning on it unless it drops to $1100 or below soon, otherwise im gonna get something else with an X1600 or X1400 with superior power to the M1210 than it. Plus 12.1 inches I think is a little too small.
-
I think for a "pro" system no gigabit, no firewire 800, no DVI-I, cruddy looking, lower end processors, design...ugly....but hell integrated graphics and decent res. certainly count for something in a small package.
I think the one with the 7400 card is worth 1500 tops; I couldn't see myself shelling out anymore.... -
I agree. For 1800 you can the 14 inch asus W3J with the X1600.
I would just like to have the 7400 as an optional upgrade for any 1210 model. I hope dell doesnt require you to have other expensive high end components in order to add the 7400. -
My only concern about the other Dell 12" model (the Inspiron 710m) is that the keyboard (for whatever reason) doesn't extend as far as it can, leading to some difficulty typing. It seems the XPS takes care of this issue, so I'll probably buy the less expensive of the two near the end of summer.
-
Dell insider who released the pics said he believed this replaces the 710M.
-
I had a question for you guys. Would you get a 7200rpm hd on the 1210? I would like the faster drive because of gaming but its a 12 inch model so the heat could be bad.
-
-
Thats what I thought as well. However, I played counterstrike on my friends 710m for over 2 hours and it was perfect. I had no eye strain whatsoever. In addition, internet, and word documents also were easy to read.
