Design and Build Quality
![]()
The design and build quality for this Dell XPS M1210
is very good. No flex on the body. feels very strong
when grabbed in any angle. . Its also fairly light
around 4.5 Lbs with the battery. Overall very good
quality and great looking design. but however the XPS
M1330 looks great also.
Keyboard
![]()
Keyboard is big enough for my fingers or possibly
anyone. No keyboard flex very solid. Touchpad is big
enough some people say its small but for this size of
a laptop its fine. On the Keyboard deck theres a power
button Media direct and a webcam button. In the front
theres media controls
Screen
![]()
The screen is a 12.1 WXGA screen made by Samsung. Just
like my old M1210 is clear bright and colors are very
nice. theres no ripples on the back of the screen even
when pushing hard. The viewing angles are fairly good.
screen is great for viewing movies/ webpages and
slight gaming
Performance
The performance on this computer is great. it runs
everything nicely. no slow downs the Dual Core
processor does its job. so performance is very good.
allot better then compared to a AMD Processor.
Ports and Connections
The Ports and Connections are good. enough for
everyday use.

Left Side 2 USB Ports S-Video Out dial up modem
express card slot

Right Side2 USB Firewire and VGA.

The XPS M1210 is definately better for lugging around
then the DV8000Z. Best to keep the DV8000Z at home.
Overall its a great laptop for all around usage.

Nice work, i guess.... though it seems kinda odd reviewing a laptop that has been discontinued.

hey, i just bought a 1210 from the outlet for 850.
got it loaded too, who says thats not a deal
its a lovely machine, perfect size, and i dont think its too thick at alll. this coming from a previous macbook, and macbook pro owner.
its a nice machine, and plenty sturdy -
the only thing its lacking on....gigabit. i cant believe an xps doesnt have that.

For some reason, I don't think my Dell is going to suffer from the same type of spontaneous cracking as my Mac. This thing's built like a tank. -
Good review!
Better than nothing at all. -
the main reason i dumped my macbook pro, the fan. even on the MB, the fan is just ungodly loud. and not to mention the TEMPs were horrendous. Apple has a winning design alright, but they need to get the cooling worked on. -
A month later, on my new bottom case, it started cracking on the front of the bottom case, along the edge, both sides, near the top case.
So, I contacted Apple. This would be the fourth time that I was going to have to send this thing in for service in the seven months I had owned it. So, they replaced it with a brand new C2D Macbook.
I decided I wasn't going to take my chances on another Macbook and got my current machine. Because of Dell dropping their pants on the M1210, I ended out coming out ahead in the whole deal, and I have a better machine.
Apple really needs to get their act together. The Macbooks are loaded with issues. It's a shame, if it weren't for all of the design flaws, the Macbook would be a great computer. -
im curious. i dont have any button on the button cover on the right side of the power button. but when i remove the panel there is a small button there.
what is it/?
edit: maybe the camera button -

i spent $800 (i got 50$ back from dell for troubles) for my 1210, and spent another $450 on a e4300 system, along with $400 on 4x 500GB 7200.10s
i think thats coming out ahead too. only thing im contemplating now, the warranty on the xps -
If I turned around today, and tried to sell my Dell, I'd take a pretty substantial loss.
