I have searched the forum, and Google for an answer to this... maybe I'm not searching correctly.

I have a Dell XPS M1330, and just acquired a Kyocera KPC680 wireless express card through Verizon.

My question is: When I insert the card, should it "lock" i.e., not slide out unless I push it in to unlock... because even when I insert it, and feel the spring depress and "engage," the card will still slide out... though not as easily as when "unlocked."

Is there something wrong with my card / slot, or is this normal?

As far as i know, theres something wrong, cards shouldn't slide out, they stay locked in place till you push that button, send it to tell or see if you can fix it yourself.

Its normal as far as i know.

On a side note, how come you didn't buy the internal wireless card from them?

    Nizzy,

I opted for the express card versus the internal for a few reasons: 1. I want to be able to use an external antenna (didn't know if that was possible with the internal, but the KPC680 has ports for download and upload antennas,) and 2. I may eventually buy a wi-fi router to use the KPC for the laptop and the XBOX.

Well... if this isn't working right, should I just call Dell and ask them to send somebody out to look at it?

It feels like everything is working normal... but when the card is in, I can still pull it out by just pulling it out... not pushing in to release first.

Thanks for you help guys (and gals, if applicable.)

There is no button, these don't work like PC Card (PCMCIA).
PC Cards had an eject button (on most card cages) but the
ExpressCard you push in to have it eject partially so you
can grab onto it. See page 67 of the user manual.

    dfbarnes,

I have the same card in my 1330, card can still come out without pushing in to eject, it feels something like a bit of friction. Won;t worry about it if the card doesn't slide out on its own.

    Thanks all.

The manual, which I had read, was of no use to me. It makes repeated mentions of a latch, and there is no latch.

sclui56, thanks, that works for me, I'll just have to be careful with it.
