With all of the minor (and major) issues discussed to the nth degree here regarding this series of notebook, I felt it important to balance that with some high praise by one of the most popular technology blogs online.

Engadget editors have seen fit to judge the XPS M1330 their 'Notebook Of The Year 2007'. Testament to the price/performance and aesthetic balance the dinky dynamo exudes.

Credit well deserved I think. It's not often that Dell get something so right as they did with the M1330 in virtually all respects, and so I think it's important that we recognise that achievement if we want to see similar success with their approach to future products.

Congratulations Dell on a job (mostly) well done. :)

It is a damn fine machine. I agree it is the best notebook out there this year for size/performance/cost/looks. Nothing else can compare.

I have a new m1330 and it's the best notebook I've ever owned. Absolutely stunned with the performance and the build quality...

a bit off-topic, but I couldn't help but to laugh at that article, looking Windows Vista was chosen as worst gadget in 2007.

I am looking at the m1330 and nice to see this. I have touched it and held. It is the price/performance/size plus the warranty that comes with what I am looking at. 3 years if it fails, or I drop or it is stolen I am covered!

    T9300 2.5Ghz 6MBL2
    3GB RAM
    8400m GS
    320GB HDD
    WebCam
    LED screen
    Intel n Wi-Fi
    bluetooth
    Vista home Premium

    $1900

Seems like the warranty is worth at least $400 on it's own! So that is what I am leaning toward!

i still prefer the M1530 over the 1330 because of higher resolution. Readers' Choice: Apple MacBook Pro is just stupid, price is terrible

I could understand the M1330 receiving this in consideration of it's all around benefits. Looks, configurability, options, customer service and warranty equate one great laptop with alot of very happy people. Here at NBR, we traditionally get those that experience problems and are looking for help which puts a negative spin on customer satisfaction.

As for the iphone winning a few awards, I find this amusing as so many people I know have tossed their iphone. It rings similar with the overpriced Macbook Pro. I have to wonder if the readership is Mac strong but I can't complain because I never voted.

Sure, but it's the success of the M1330's design and engineering that spawned the M1530. :)

Haha, Engadgets editors are 'Mac strong', which is largely why Dell's M1330 winning the award is such a prestigious accolade in my view.

I was half expecting yet another nod to an Apple product. I think most people were.

impressive for the m1330 to win a spot on engadgets list. for editors choice only thing that makes me laugh is how they regard the IPHONE as a SMART PHONE. the real definition of the IPHONE is and i qoute "A functional fashion phone" nothing smart about it. CANT EVEN COPY AND PASTE!

i think its great the XPS won, as i'm looking to sell of the 1520 and pick one up...

but about the iphone comment a few spots up...who cares if it copy and pastes?? It has been the best phone i have ever used, no web browser for any WM6 phone even comes close to the safari. How can you say it is not a smart phone?

...and all this coming from the guy who hates apple products, except the iphone.

'Smart phones' are traditionally business oriented devices. The iPhone is not. You both have a reasonable argument for and against the classification of its featureset. :)

I will say this. It wasn't "smart" for the IPhone to cripple its bluetooth. Cost them a customer (me)
