Hi folks my first post.... I have a new XPS M140 that I bought from a friend at work and bought more RAM for it and need to install it. I was wondering if anyone can point me to a "how-to" article to install the ram please?

The notebook has 1 gig of ram now (512x2) and I'm installing a gig so I'll have 1.5 gig ;-)

    Thank you.

    Welcome to the forums,
    Here you go:
    http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/xps140M/en/sm/index.htm

You should be able to find all of the information that you need to get to your RAM slots. It is fairly easy to do, but it is a bit tricky for the first time.

Just a couple of tidbits if you have never installed RAM before: pay attention to how you take it out. You have to insert the new stick at a 45 degree angle, so watching how it comes out will help you when you insert the new stick. Also make sure that you have the grooves lined up correctly.

It normally only takes a few minutes.

Thanks for all the help everyone. I got the new ram installed and it works great. I'm glad I asked the question and truly appreciate all the assistance.

I do like this XPS M140 notebook. It's a very nice laptop and pretty lightweight....

    Cheers.
