For some background, I'm in the process of moving from the US to Denmark and due to school I had to replace my aging desktop (also a Dell) with something that doesn't weight 40 pounds and that could run on the 240v electric system. I've always had a great experience with Dell and loved the design on the XPS laptops and decided to go with them even though I could've gotten a much better specced product from Sager or Clevo for a comparable price.

To make a long story short, the laptop was ordered on the 17th of July and finally shipped on the 24th. When ordering the ESD was the 6th of August so I elected for 2 day shipping as I'm leaving on the 11th and wanted to give them some leeway in case a component was backordered or I wasn't home to sign for the package when DHL or UPS dropped by. Needless to say, I was elated when it instead shipped on the 24th and waited eagerly throughout the weekend looking forward to taking Crysis for a test drive on the new computer.

What was interested about the order however was that there was no tracking number attached, but I googled around and saw it sometimes took up to 24 hours to propagate through to Dell's systems, and I just chalked it up to that. I woke up Saturday morning and checked again, still no tracking number, and the same again on Sunday. Fast forward to Monday night, and being without laptop or tracking number I call up Dell CS to ask them if perhaps they have it and their web form is broken or something similar and am elated to find that the rep gives me one, and thus I hang up and head to DHL's website to try it out. What I found was more than a bit disappointing, the number I received, 27758293286, does not exist in DHLs online system and a quick call to their support line showed they had no package with that number, and it was not just a bug with their website. Once again I call up Dell and explain to them what happened imagining I must've written down the number wrong, but they give me the same response and tell me call back in 24 hours.

It's now Tuesday, so first thing in the morning I call back and get the exact same response, despite the fact the package should've arrived already and get told to wait yet *another* 24 hours before calling back again. At this point I'm beyond frustrated and try emailing Dell to see if they can do something to expedite the process or get a refund if the laptop will not be in my hands by 12PM August 8th, at which point I'm told that a refund or replacement could take up to 2 billing cycles! I've decided to call back yet again tomorrow to see if I can get a reasonable answer as to whether I should source the PC from somewhere else.

I truly love the support Dell provides most of the time, but this has been nothing but disappointing, if anyone has any advice or had a similar experience and could share what they ended up doing I'd be incredibly thankful.

    Edit Two:

TL;DR Version: I ordered two day shipping on the computer, it shipped the 24th, and it's now the 30th with no tracking number or computer, Dell provides no helpful info after numerous calls, any advice appeciated

Call them and tell them you aren't very happy. If it already shipped. Nothing you can do. If it didn't call them up and ask them for a free upgrade to overnight shipping.

Be patient, you chose the shipping time so.

For 2 day shipping one would expect it to ship in two days after it's been sent to the carrier. I could see it not coming Monday because it was finished late in the day on Friday, but not being here on Tuesday and the shipping company having no record of the package makes me more than a bit worried

DHL probably screwed up. They aren't very reliable apparently. Read the horror stories online.

Just an update, called Dell again today and was told to wait another 24 hours before calling back. At this point I've more or less given up on Dell getting me a laptop in time unless they can somehow rush a laptop through production and to my doorstep in 9 days.
