When I turn Saving Energy in Vista, it lower my CPU clock + GPU bandwitch so everything should run cooler right ?

But it runs only a bit cooler than when on Max Performance and if I close the lid - in background there is some torrent client running + messenger + some pdfs opened - it becomes as hot as Max Performance plan and almost as hot as when I play games.
    Is it normal ?

I'm not complainig that this hot is uncomfortable, but I though that when in Saving Energy Plan and when I'm doing things like web surfing or listening to music it should be cool.

    Other question are:
Is SearchIndexer.exe running in background really needed ?
Is there any way to decrese svchost RAM request ? There is bunch of svchosts (for different things) running in background and they eat hell amount of memory :/

P.S. Sorry for my english - long time no use ;/

EDIT: I've just noticed ADOBE READER (ver. 8) is 'eating' memory constantly - BUG ?

SearchIndexer.exe is part windows search and its used to index files in your system only way to stop this is to stop search.

May be the applications are still using the resources. You can disable the indexer if you don't want that to use the memory. You can use Notebook Hardware Control Software to monitor your CPU frequency and load.

Download HWMonitor to show HDD/CPU/GPU temps. Just google it

Report back with your idle and load temps

Also use foxit reader. Its way better than Adobe acrobat. Its very very lightweight. Adobe has alot of issues with memory leak and security

Okey, here are my temps from HWMonitor:

Battery Saving profile in Vista: (temps in Celcius degrees)

    IDLE:

    ACPI: 42
    CPU: 44
    GPU: 64
    HDD: 38

    IDLE LID CLOSED:

    ACPI: 51
    CPU: 49
    GPU: 68
    HDD: 40

    Max Performance profile in Vista:

    IDLE:

    ACPI: 40
    CPU: 40
    GPU: 60
    HDD: 36

    IDLE LID CLOSED:

    ACPI: 49
    CPU: 49
    GPU: 69
    HDD: 36

    STRESS:

    ACPI: 52
    CPU: 50
    GPU: 69
    HDD: 37

Weird ! First I checked battery saving mode. Temperature in room was quite same. Max 1*C difference.

And my panel where I put hands seems to be warm all the time. Especially when I open LID.

EDIT: Stress done with 3dmark 06 (I know not the best for it...)
