Hey guys so I received my new xps and so far I love it, the screen is the 1280X800 one and I have no issues with it being grainy or anything. The only problem so far is connecting to my secure wifi network that has broadcast turned off. My laptop has the Dell wireless card instead of the Intel one but I dont think that is the issue because the Dell wireless sniffer is able to detect my wireless router but vista never picks it up. I do see other routers in the area that have broadcast turned on ofcourse.
I have tried reinstalling the Dell driver and then turned on broadcast and it connected to my router but I need broadcast turned off.
Has anyone run into this issue?

Is your SSID hidden? If so try to manually search for it.

Sometimes my 1520 can only find the net with this fuss.

Yes my ssid is hidden and I tried creating a manual connection to it but no luck still, I am going to run a few tests this weekend, the laptop is so damn loud though it bothers me but I think ill post a new thread for that.

Yeah I did try setting the SSID manually and it didnt work, vista does not connect to it but the Dell wifi sniffer picks up that there is a router close that is not broadcasting the SSID.

Check to make sure the laptop is configured for the same channel number as the router. When doing things automatically (broadcast on one end and scanning on the other) it will scan all channels. In manual config the channel and ssid need to be set manually and match the router.

What you need to do if the other option don't work is to turn on SSID on router/modem and check channels then save.
Now turn on your radio on the laptop etc etc connect to you wireless router via wireless manager select your router then connect button, then when given enter wireless key, some where in the connection section there is a option Connect automatic when in range check this and Connect even if radio is not broadcasting check this also and now save.
At this point you should be able to connect once you turn off your SSID and save it within your router settings.
