Didn't know where else to ask. NBF seems to have alot of well educated people and maybe hopefully I'll get answers here. :)

I ordered a 1530 back on May 4th. And ESD was yesterday. Last min I received a email saying it was delayed. Basically went back and simulated my order and nothing is causing a back order. And the rep I talked to also said nothing 'as far as she can tell' is causing the delay either.

Just wondering if anyone has heard of any big delays or anything.

I think their "just in time" manufacturing policy may have bit them in the pooter. Looks like the M1530 is a very popular notebook right now. I ordered mine on 5/4 with a ESD of 5/14 but I got the dreaded order delay e-mail till 5/29. So, I cancelled and re-ordered with different specs (T9300,LED LCD and 250GB 7200 HDD) that will make it ship even later now. If I'm going to wait I'll at least make it worth it. :)

If mine gets delayed any more, i'll be pissed.

12 days until my 1530's ESD....

Seriously, think about this. You ordered the 1680x1050, you have a later ship date. What if, sometime in your delay, they add the option of LED screens for 1680x1050? Then you have the liberty of canceling your order and getting newer tech! Of course, it might not happen, but if you think of it that way, it doesnt feel as frustrating. Consider it an opportunity.

I called and my sales told me there is a component on the motherboard is delayed. I was confused, isn't it every component on the motherboard comes together with the motherboard?

Just following up on my previous post.

Contacted Dell today and was told and 'verified' that nothing was delaying this order and that is was just a 'manufacturing delay'. Was wondering if this is just a generated response that they give to all customers or if in fact the computer is just in that high of demand?

And sad to find out they wouldn't compensate me for the delay.

    Thanks in advance everyone.

You can't go wrong with waiting obviously, though for someone that is obviously intent on ordering now, it hope for people to accept their delays that there may be a good opportunity for them.

when i ordered mine, there was one part, i believe it was the hard drive that i picked, and there was a little message underneath it where you selected your components that said "may delay your xps m1530 ship date"... im sure you received your computer by now, but you may have been the one of the lucky ones that had to wait til dell received that part to put in your computer. the only reason i cant tell you which one it was for me is because now going through all of the components they have changed the message for different parts, like now its the battery and something else. SO maybe you just werent paying attention when you were selecting some of your components and it was one of those "may delay your shipment" items. the cust. service people probably wouldnt know because that message changes for whatever part they need to wait to get in at the time since the computer is a hot item now. just a thought... well after you probably cared to hear it, but i just noticed this thread now :D

That's a number and a word. Maybe six cell would be better? Mine's in the rope-a-dope stage. Maybe it will be here by the end of June.

I got confirmation from Dell today. They're missing 6-cell batteries.
