This is what's happening with my laptop.
1. I had Windows Vista and I had this problem, it was a little worse than it is now. The computer would have "noise"-type visuals that moved sort of like a hypnotic image. The computer would freeze, then restart, restart, restart, restart, in a never ending cycle. I had to load up safe-mode and remove the graphics card drivers, thus disabling the card itself(?), to make it work.
2. Removed Vista, Deleted the partition, recreated it, formatted it thoroughly, installed Windows XP Professional. Look at pictures above, this is what is happening on XP now. This is similar to what happened on Vista, but not as harsh. Computer freezes, I push the power button to turn it off. I push it again to turn it on, Dell bios screen, windows xp screen, then a BSOD with the same visual issues comes up. Reboot, same thing over and over. 5th try windows xp loads w/o problems.
Dell denies the fact that there is something wrong with the hardware and continually refers to it as a "problem with the drivers." They refuse to help me as I "degraded" the machine by installing Windows XP. Right now I don't have my Vista disc as it is my dorm room and I am at home. But the only option left is to reinstall Windows Vista and call them up again...
One rep told me to use LaptopVideo2Go drivers rather than Nvidia's which I found quite funny.
Anyways..we'll see what happens once I reinstall Vista.

it IS a driver problem. dell is denying it is a hardware problem because it ISNT a hardware problem.

How is it a driver problem if:
1. It worked fine before last wednesday, with the same drivers.
2. I formatted to a clean install, used the same drivers, same problem.
3. Tried two different Operating Systems with the specific driver assigned to each OS, yet I still have the same problem?
Please clarify...

and if it is a driver issue, why am I the only "reported" user to have this issue? Usually these problems are widespread as I'm your everyday pc user...Last edited by a moderator: May 6, 2015 -

i know its a driver problem because many others have had the same problem. and the fix was to install a new driver. if it does it during post or in the bios then it is not (obviously) a driver problem, but if it is in windows only, then it is.

Do you see the problem in the BIOS screen or in safe mode?
