My dad says that His M1210 has a burner that uses lightscribe technology. He also says that all the XPS models have it. Is this true? I am extremely sceptical and would like to know for sure before I upgrade from my 710m to something newer.

I do not know one way or the other. However, from what I understand LightScribe is a proprietary HP technology which means it's unlikely to be on a dell. Of-course, I could be wrong.

Yeah, right now I've only ever seen a lightscribe drive on HP computers. I suppose if he upgraded it aftermarket somehow....but I doubt it.

Lightscribe is an HP only product. He might of seen it in the burner software, as Nero supports it, though I have no Lightscribe capability.

A technology that lets you flip your blank cd/dvd media upside down and the drive etches out a label you design on the computer to mark your blank media instead of using markers or stick on labels. Only thing is, you need to get LightScribe blank cd/dvds to use this feature (which are more expensive than traditional blank media).
