Mine should arrive tomorrow![]()
-
I think this is a great possibility you could get one from the outlet shortly.
-
You could call Dell up and tell them you are' very unhappy' with the delay and tell them you want to cancel the order. See how it goes from there.
-
I bet it has something to do with the 1440x900 display.
-
So what is your estimated delivery date now ?
I ordered on 5th Jan, have an expected delivery date of 24th Jan. Its still sat at pre-production according to the online status checker.
I also went for the WXGA+ screen, as the last poster says this could be the cause of the delay. I've read a few posts here of people who ordered after me and have EDDs before mine, offhand I don't recall any having the upgraded screen.
Maybe this is why the option isn't online as they can't keep up with demand ?? -
Mine has also been delayed from the 10th to the 25th its another 2 weeks. I checked online and it says its being built however I'm gonna call and ***** to get my shipping free.
-
They're deferring laptop parts to the US so the Americans don't have to wait. (just kidding...maybe...I don't know)
-
-
I think its the same for the Inspiron 1720's as well even though its not mentioned on the website.
I ordered an Inspiron on the 27th of December 07 with an estimated delivery date of the 16th... -
Ok mine got shipped today so I should get it monday. (It was delayed from 10th to the 25th).
-
-
Mine is still in pre-production, EDD is still 24th, from what I see of the UK courier (Walsh Western?) they take a few days at least to get it to the customer, so if its going to be on time it needs to be built and tested next week..
-
I ordered mine on 3rd Jan. Yesterday I was really happy cause they switched from 2. pre-production to 3. production. Today I got a email which says that estimated delivery changes from 21st Jan to 5th Feb. This is really annoying. How are chances that I'll get it earlier as it is already in production?
-
its probably the case that now they have all the parts they know how long it'll take to build, test, and then deliver to the courier, so I'd guess that 5th Feb is more accurate.
-
lol they don't sound that bad compared to my current experience!
Ordered an Inspiron 1720: 27/12/07
First EDD: 16/01/08
Today I received an email saying that the estimated delivery date has been updated to the 21st of February!! 5 weeks and 1 day!!!!! I've emailed someone who've I've been speaking to from dell customer care and he has this to say,
"Due to the popularity of the product our demand has exceeded supply. Our factory is working with our suppliers and Dell will always try and improve the delivery date on your order. "

Am I expected to wait 2 months for a laptop!!!! -
ok, thanx crafty.
i hope they don't need something like 2 weeks to screw it together now that they have all the parts. probably i'll still get it earlier than february. -
I wish the same could be said for other people including myself
-
After they told me that it would be delayed to the 25th January, it was in pre-production for about a day or two then it went into the build stage for 3 days and shipped on thursday or friday. I am recieving it early next week. Therefore i'm not going to complain, it is only 5 days (inc a weekend).
-
^when did you order your notebook??
-
-
Oh well. I'm gonna have a word with them on monday and if things aren't sorted I'll just cancel and buy it from Ebay
-
You might want to check ebay before cancelling as there are no 1530s on there at present (UK site).
Edit: Doh, just seen you want a 1720.. yeah there are some of those on there... -
Im not sure whether i should be happy or scared (im leaning towrds the latter though
) i ordered mine yesterday and im in "delivery preperation". now im not someone who's normally paranoid and looks for faults in their system but in this case im gonna inspect the **** out of it.
-
well, I just checked my order again and today its gone straight from pre-production to dispatched. Clicked the link to track it with the courier and their tracking tool appears not to be working, as it shows a blank page with the walsh & western header at the top.
So now I just have to work out delivery this week sometime (hopefully). -
The Walsh Western tracker is now working and it shows that they've contacted me this morning and have arranged delivery for tomorrow morning.. only 2 problems, 1) they didn't contact me (least not on my mobile) and 2) no-one will be in!
I noticed that theres a button on the tracker called "ePod", if you click it it searches for a consignment with business post.. in my case it doesn't find anything..
Do Walsh Western use Business Post for the local delivery ? hopefully I can go to the Business Post depot and pick it up tomorrow night after work. -
now my 1530 is in stage 4, boxing. guess i will get it earlier then the updated edd which said 5th Feb.
-
Well I just got home to find the laptop had been left with a neighbour despite everything dell say!
Unpacked it, plugged in the power, pressed power.. nothing happens. Press it again, nothing happens.. battery indicator shows 3 out of 5 lights lit, so even without the power in it should start up.
Press media direct button.. thats dead too.
All customer service lines are closed, I'm currently on hold on the XPS exclusive line, its already warned me Im going to have to wait 15 minutes or more.. great treatment for the premium systems.
Not happy!!! -
hey crafty
how is it going now with your xps? has it started yet?
once you've booted, could you check if you got an lg or an auo screen?
i guess you got your book out of limerick?
thanks -
no the machine refused to start, no matter what.
After 28 minutes on hold I finally got to speak to someone, the machine is going to be exchanged, which means I have to wait for a new one to be built, when this will arrive I don't know yet, Im waiting for a email to say the order is at the factory, then I'll know what the EDD date is. I reckon it will be mid February by the time I see the replacement, over a month since ordering.. assuming that *that* one actually turns on I'll have a look which screen it has when it arrives. -
oh i'm so sorry for you. bad luck!!!!!
have you heard something about the problems with the wxga+ displays at all? about these "grainy" effects?
this is a big matter in continental europe, cause many of the customers get their orders from the factory in poland which are installing these crappy "auo" panels for the time beeing. now as i'll get my order from limerick, i hope that i'll be gifted with a lg/philips panel......
