Well I am seeking some advice from those that may have been down this route before. Last Friday I received my XPS and spent the weekend installing using etc, and generally trying to come to grips with the True Life screen. No dead pixels, but like many I do have light leakage and the dreaded sparkles. I called in a service request to dell thinking that I could just get the LG screen swapped for the Samsung and was told that the part number was not available for the XPS. I suspect that the part is shipped in the housing and for a 9300 you just swap the whole assembly, please jump in here those that have been through this. I was imagining that it would be the LCD array only no housing? The tech support guy indicated that they would test a screen and have a service technician out to my location to install the same LG screen without the sparkles. I am doubtful that the sparkle effect is a defect in my screen and would imagine that it is common on all LG screens. Has anyone with an XPS been able to get rid of the sparkles? The XPS is an otherwise staggering laptop that has exceeded my expectations and is equal that to any desktop I have tried to run in my studio.

The problems you described are common to the truelife screens from Dell. I've heard complaints about both screens with the light leakage and sparkle effect. The light leakage is a standard with LCD screens though, so unless it is horrific, you are just seeing standard light leakage. After a while, I got use to it, and barely notice it now.
