I would like to buy a Dell for around $3000. I would need it for college, games(eg. battlefield 2), and graphic design stuff, movies on the go, etc. I want it to have great customer support(eg. part failure and such)! I would really appreciate it if someone could give me some insight into whats good for that price, Thanks!

You can easily get a maxed out XPS2 with 3k, it'll round up to 3.5~k, but with a coupon, back down to 2.75k or so.

Just max everything BUT BUT BUT NOT THE RAM!! max it a 256 stick, then buy two 1gb sticks from NewEgg.

I'm not sure about the HD though, a 7200/60 would work wonders.

He says that becuase its cheaper. If you don't wanna have to do it yourself, just go ahead and buy the ram from dell.

    ----------------------
    Buying one of these:
    ~~Averatec:amd3000+/512mb/80gb/integrated gfx $1000
    ~~Acer: 1.8ghz PM/512mb/100gb/9700 64mb $1350
    ~~Emachines:3400+/512mb/80gb/9600 64mb $850?

To upgrade to 2gb ram, it'll cost you $1000 from Dell. Buying 2 from New Egg costs less then $250?

It's pretty easy, I'm sure there are alot of people who did it. You can ask at the Dell forums, or look around there

All you need is a screwdriver, unscrew it, pop the cover off and install it.
