So I think Im going to be getting one of these, and I want it to be my portable gaming solution.

RIght now its got a Pentium M and a nvidia 6800 graphics card. Those are the first 2 things Id like to upgrade. I know I can upgrade the video card, hoping to get something like a 7800 perhaps.

Would I be able to upgrade the processor to a merom chip? Or do you think the Pentium M 760 is fast enough for gaming? I will only be playing games on it, and the occasional web surfing.

Core and Core 2 use a different pin out than the Pentium M, so it will not be upgradeable. Same number of pins, but a slightly different layout.

If you can get the 7800 part from Dell, you should be able to upgrade it. An MXM or general 7800 isn't going to work, as the GPU is a Dell-specific design.

Interesting, I recall people upgrading to merom processors. I guess maybe it was the core duo people who upgraded rather than the pentium M people. My memory has been shot these days.
