Does anyone know where I can get an INTERNAL Dell Service Manual for my Vostro 1400?

The one that Dell has but their customers aren't allowed to have?

I'm retardedly tired of getting a goodluck and a pat on the butt on what they expect me to do to my own system.

All service manuals can be found on www.dell.com/support. I don't know why you would need an "internal" one, nor how an "internal" one could be more useful to you.

??? What drugs are you on?

All the service manuals are at www.dell.com/support.

The one for the Vostro 1400 is here: http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins1420/en/SM/index.htm

It can't possible get more through. Dell is better than any other company at making all of their service manuals available to the public. WTF could an internal service manual have over the one on the website? Does it come with a helper repair monkey that does the repairs for you?

Oh my ... How about where things plug in on the motherboard?

Like where the card cable adapter for the Bluetooth module would plug into on a Vostro 1400?

I'd say Lithus is a lot better than Dell tech support, but to each his own.

I don't think the Dell manual notes where the other end of the cable goes, though I might have overlooked something. The best way to find out is to trace it for yourself. I don't think Dell expects you take out the cable, and by all means, I don't think you should need to either (unless it was an accident).

I can't find a good picture of the Inspiron 1420/Vostro 1400 motherboard, or I'd try to look for the connector for you, but you should be looking for a header that has the same pin count as the BT module (I don't think any other headers should have the same number of pins), assuming the cable is somehow disconnected already.

Shouldn't be too hard to find if you've got your board in plain sight.

The internal 1400 training manual doesn't really say or show the other end of the cable. My guess it'll be on the underside of the motherboard and will require removal of the motherboard to get to it.

I don't believe mine came with a card cable...since it didn't come with Bluetooth.

I took the motherboard out and held it in my hand looking...but wasn't able to find a header, maybe I was just too scared to death of having it out to see it, but I thought I looked.

Dell has told me everything from, "You need a new motherboard" to "You're on your own, goodluck!"

I would doubt that Dell ordered some motherboards with bluetooth socket and some with out. Doesn't make business sense. As the bluetooth card is situated near the front by the audio ports I'd guess the BT socket is on the underside of the board in that area.

Vostro 1400 comes with the BT cable even you don't choose the BT option. I've added the TM355 myself afterward. The training manual has slightly more information than the support site. I've printed it into a PDF file when the site was open to public. The cable running across the lower right of the attached picture should be the BT socket cable. Note the picture is showing the MB upside down (bottom view).

    Wowwe!

I never would've thought it was there on the mobo!

Thank you much, I'll order the cord and have a look.

Is there anyway I can get that manual myself?

    Thanks loads.

Mine certainly didn't come with one, I would've noticed it after disconnecting everything from the mobo and looking for it.

But I am assuming that's because mine is from the outlet.

Maybe another 1400 needed a cord and they thought, "Whynot?" ;)

    You're amazing...I love you. ;D

    This makes me happy.

Now I know officially know a ton more than Dell tech support instead of just a lot. :D
