So check this out. It's a good thing I stay on top of Dell and DHL when they bring me stuff. My 1720 has been at the DHL facility all day. It was marked "No Alert" and had NO SHIPPING ADDRESS OR NAME ATTACHED.

    I mean...c'mon???

Is Dell dumber for not putting my name and address on it (though I verified my tracking number with Dell so I'm sure it's mine)

Or is DHL dumber for accepting a package with no name / address on it and marking it "No Alert"? (Meaning it would've just sat at the DHL facility indefinitely.)

That's just stupid either way you look at it.

Lesson Learned: Keep on top of your Dell / DHL packages ruthlessly through customer service of both.

wow thats stupid.. i would say that its DHL's fault.. seems like they either didn't pay attention to the no address when dell shipped it, or they lost it in the process

Dell acts only slightly less worthless than DHL sometimes, but I'm inclined to blame them both equally in this circumstance.

Who ships a computer out with no address on it?

And what shipping company will do that?

    Just silly.

DHL can have the address and still not get you your package. DHL is made of total fail.

I'm tracking the arrival of my laptop bag like a hawk, and get this...it departed from Norcross, GA, went through the Atlanta hub, DROVE THROUGH Greensboro, NC, drove to Roanoke, VA; AND NOW, it's back in Greensboro and supposed to come today (I'm about 40 minutes from Greensboro).

Someone explain that one to me, please? Do they even look at the ultimate destination? You can't tell me there weren't other packages that were supposed to go in the Greensboro area when it came through before that mine couldn't have been put on.

I don't really care because I can't really use the bag yet without a laptop, but that doesn't bode well for my XPS to get here efficiently...

I had a similar experience recently when I was expecting a Vostro 1700. I live in Sarasota, Florida. The package was scanned in Orlando, FL. The following morning it gets scanned in Bradenton, Florida.

So far so good because it was on schedule for that day to be delivered................WRONG !!!!!

The package got shipped back to Orlando. So I called DHL at 7:30am that morning and they said no i'll get it the following day. So i'm tracking it again. At 9:30am it's back in Bradenton, Fl for delivery which I actually got it the day I was supposed to. :)

For some reason DHL is not bad in my area. Their track record is much better than UPS.

UPS has a far better track record in my area than DHL from what I have seen.

Still, though, at least you got it, right?

Yup but that happened 3 weeks ago. I've got another Vostro on the way. This time it's a Vostro 1500. We'll see how that goes. :p

My laptop bag and Computrace got here today...I absolutely love my bag! It's the Wenger Swiss Style up-to-17inch bag...a little expensive for my taste ($56) but very nice quality.

Those are nice bags. I got a 17" bag myself made by Targus but it's no longer sold at DeLL. I bought the bag for $34 part of the Vostro $500 off sale that recently took place.

I really love this Wenger bag....haha. It'll be so much nicer when it has my XPS in it, LOL.

At least I can go buy a duffel bag now that I know how much room this will take up in it...

Yesterday I called DeLL customer service to get my tracking number and they told me that my package was expected to be delivered 4/30 which is today.

I went to DHL's website yesterday and the tracking number shows my package is in Willingham, Ohio. I checked about an hour ago and it says the same thing. So I called DHL and they said no the package is for delivery, ORLY.

I want to see them get my package from Ohio to Sarasota within the same day. This ought to be good. :D

Well apparently the left hand doesn't know the right hand. I called DHL again around 5pm and told them another DHL rep earlier in the day said I would get delivery today. The second DHL rep I spoke to said no, there was a delay and that I should get it tomorrow. We shall see. :p

My m1330 was picked up from Dell on 4/26, arrived in Wilmington, OH and was scheduled for delivery to Los Angeles 4/29.

Today, 4/30, DHL says they're not sure where my package is, and they'll put a trace on it.

They are supposed to let me know what's happening by noon tomorrow, (well, today, it's now 12:52am).

Guess we'll see what happens. This was 2nd day! I don't thiiiiiink soooooo.

That bites. Several NBR members from LA have also had problems with DHL. For some reason DHL in my area has been pretty good to the point where it's really hard to complain. Case in point my Vostro 1500 arrived in Orlando last night which hopefully means it will get delivered to Bradenton Florida today. When that happens I usually get things delivered the same day.

Glad to hear you got your laptop!

DHL still tells me they can't find mine.... "um, it was here a minute ago... it's GOT to be here SOMEWHERE... can we give you a call tomorrow, and we'll keep looking"???

No, you can NOT call me tomorrow, and do NOT continue looking. I told them to declare it lost, and that I'll reorder it from Dell.

Now Dell tells me I have to wait 5 business days after it was received by DHL before they'll credit my account.

Are we having fun yet?

DHL is clown shoes compared to UPS and FedEx. They are the illegitimate stepchild of the shipping industry, living in FedEx's attic, surviving only on table scraps of reputable companies.

I can't agree more, DHL is pathetic.
