How has Dell handled new OSes in the past?

I was told by a rep that I will not be able to buy a new laptop with Windows 8 already installed on Oct 26 and that there is no timetable for when dell computers will come with Windows 8.

The only option is to upgrade to Windows 8 which is a sloppy solution imo.

Was this how it was for Windows 7? I can't recall

No, you would have to upgrade to Win 8 separately. We cannot install Win 8 on all our products as soon as an OS launches.

    Thanks,

Disappointed. Bring out an XPS 15 with an IPS display, 10-point multitouch and Win 8. No wonder you're losing market share.
