I'm about to purchase a Dell 700m to upgrade from my 2 year old Sony Vaio PCG-FRV25 which has been giving me a lot of trouble with CD writing and stuff and it's time for a new laptop anyways. So I've decided to buy the Dell 700m with these specs:

    Pentium M 745 (1.80GHz), 1GB DDR SDRAM, 60GB Hard Drive, Windows XP Pro, 8x CD/DVD burner (DVD+/-RW) with double-layer write capability, and IntelĀ® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps).

I will mainly use my computer for online stuff such as downloading and chatting and word processing applications and the occasional image making with Adobe. I love movies so I will be using the computer for movie watching as well. I'm not a gamer, I don't play any hardcore games or anything.

So with that background here's my question: Should I invest on a Dell Insurance policy for the laptop? I bought a 2 year insurance plan for my laptop with Circuit City which I only actually used once JUST a few weeks ago to send my laptop away to be repaired for that CD writing problem, but other than that I haven't used it at all during the entire 2 year duration. If I should buy an insurance plan then how long?

I would highly recommend a service plan/agreement b/c laptops are extremely high on maintance, especially when your purchasing a system over $1,000 bones. I work at best buy and people come in screwed because their moniter broke after a year on there laptop and their out of luck. Now they have to send it out for repair which cost's them up to 350 dollars. In this case they just end up buying another laptop. Therfore, just invest in atleast a 2year on site repair so if anything happens you will be safe. I purchased the 2 year with my 700m because its my first laptop and since laptops are portable more problems can arise(my opinion)! SO YES I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. Whats another 100 bucks and some change when your already spending over a grand.. hope this helps..enjoy your purchasing.
