Is it just me, or did Dell want $199 extra to give me a 9 cell battery on my Inspiron 1720 INSTEAD of the 6 cell, but I could have gotten the 6-cell by default and just purchased the 9-cell for $220 and had them both?

Yea, if your not careful, dell can, and will rip you off (unless you talk them into giving you a deal on the phone)

Weird, I got the 6 cell and 9 cell with my 1530 for just $100.

I got a 9 cell with my Vostro for $75

I guess this was after all Dell batteries took the $100 jump. Better look at that link again....

gawddamnit... when i posted the link it was $199... i swear.
oh well. -
For my 1720 it was a $50 upgrade to go to the 9cell. Word of warning in case you don't know.. it does stick out the back that extra 3 cells width AND from what I have read isnt that great in adding the lifespan anyway.

I got my 9 cell for £17.00 which is $34.00
I would not get a 6 cell for 2 reasons.
1. it does not last as long and would probably not play a 2 hour movie.
2. It gives the laptop a bit of a rise for air to circulate, important if you are running high demand apps.

Nice find with the article, I was wondering why there was a 2-3 week lead time on 9-cells even in Aus

When I ordered my Vostro 1400, a second battery was only $59 disregarding being a 6-cell or 9-cell. When Vostro 1400 was first release, it came with the 9-cell battery. But when I ordered a month later, it came with 6-cell battery. Anyway, I would like to have one 6-cell and one 9-cell and the final cost was the same for me.
Dell battery - 6cell vs 9 cell?
