    Hi there:

I just bought a dell bluetooth mouse in order to use with my 1420. i added the device, vista recognizes it, everything OK.

The mouse works well except for the fact that if i leave it sill for more tan 6-7 seconds, when i move it again the cursor "skips", it is as if the mouse is waking up or something and for the first second it works badly.

You guys out there with this same mouse, do you experience any of this?

    Thanks in advance.

To be hoenst with you I think its a bug in Vista, had the same issue with a Razor blue tooth mouse and I changed OS. Not even one small stutter. So I am sure its something to do with the OS/BT drivers.

Mine only skips for like 1-2 seconds, and it's not a problem to me. The mouse rocks.

You say yours also actually skips?? Because it seems everyone gets this same thing, in which case i would have nothing to do but accept it.

It only skips when I first turn the mouse on for like 1-2 seconds, then it works great.

I have the dell bluetooth mouse that i ordered with my m1330 (same as OP's) and it works great. I never have trouble with it skipping or anything, unless i use the touchpad while the mouse is on and then start using the mouse after using the touchpad. When i do this it only does one initial skip then its fine.

Its probably a power saving option - since the mouse goes into a sleep mode when not used for a while. Thats why I didnt buy a bluetooth mouse TBH.

Ok... but what if you leave the mouse turned on but STILL, i mean, leaving it there alone for 7 seconds... when you move it again after those 7-8 seconds does your cursor skip or lag??

mine does at least... tested it both in a 1420 an a 1530, both running vista.

i have some BT issues, all the microsoft mouses could barely move smoothly. I got a v470 and it is much better but it does some funny stuff every now and then. Im guessing they need to update the dell BT stack

mine isnt B sleep related it during a long continous use it gets skippy but it seems like others problems are certianly power related. TO turn it off uncheck the box in the screen shot

I have a BT mouse bought with my XPS M1530. The mouse is not smooth at all. terrible. This is especially problematic because I'm using a high resolution of 1600x1000 where things are really small and require precision to click the right things.

My favorite method of differentiating a good mouse and a bad mouse is how fast I can complete an intermediate size Minesweeper game. With a great mouse, I can easily do it in between 18-25 seconds where a subpar mouse may get me an average of 30. But this Dell BT mouse is so bad I can barely finish a game at all (plus Vista's revamped minesweeper sucks).

If you are going to game w/ it, just go w/ wired mouse.

I have Logitech Bluetooth diNovo set, and works well at most of the time, but mouse does tend to go crazy sometimes w/o any explanations.

Logitech G9 (about 70 bucks shipped on Ebay) is pretty sweet for games so save yourself a headache, and just go w/ wired.

disable wi-fi, if you use 2.4ghz wi-fi it will interfere with bluetooth.

bluetooth "hops" across the entire 2.4ghz band, and it will cause interference with any other device that uses that band. for instance wi-fi, cordless phones, some wireless mouse, some wireless gamepads.

    its called all-band interference

i want to casual gaming and do other things with the dell bluetooth mouse. i might just take the risk- less than £10, after all. If all goes wrong, I'll spend some more on a better one.
    may work for me...

    Hi,
Windows Vista does have issues with bluetooth and wireless mice. Microsot wireless mice, in particular, have been found to sometimes freeze your screensaver or be a bit jumpy/laggy during normal use. I would suggest downloading the intellipoint software if you're experiencing these issues. Also, if you're using a bluetooth mouse, the mouse does go into a power saving mode. The reason there is a delay, and most likely a skipping cursor, is because it has to re-establish the connection. Unfortunately, there is no way to prevent this, being that the mouse has to use power saving mode to keep the endurance of battery life.

    Hi,

I have the same issue of my DELL Inspiron 1525 mouse not responding immediatly after not moving it for a few secs.

However, I have a logitech S510 wireless keyboard+mouse set on my desktop and it rocks. Nothing like this crappy power saving mode from my DELL laptop. If my laptop wireless set does not have this issue, why would my laptop have it? Also, I think the DELL bluetooth mouse from my laptop is actually from Logitech, isn't it ? Setpoint is exactly the same as from my S510...

Go to Control Panel -> Bluetooth Devices ->Hardware tab -> double click Dell Wireless 360 Bluetooth Module -> Power Management tab -> then uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off the device to save power."

Should stop the stuttering after every few seconds.
