    Hey

OMG took me almost 2hrs getting bounced around department to department, then in a queue to speak to someone about my issues (see previous post - http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=187164 - M1330 Issues)

Stated I had seen a leaked Dell presentation stating and I quote from it

..." Issue Description: Some XPS M1330 customers are reporting that their system emits a high-pitched buzzing noise.

Status/Next Steps: Rev A04 of the motherboard will resolve this problem."...

Expecting the Dell engineer to deny the above, I was completely taken back by him saying it was true, and the new revision of the motherboard will resolve this issue.

Now he could be telling porkies to shut me up and until I see this new motherboard with my own eyes (or ears in this case) I will wait and see.

So for me (as its only a few days old) I am going to get another exchange with this new motherboard revision.

Anyone who has had the M1330 for sometime, contact Dell quoting the above, you should be able to get a Dell engineer out to replace the motherboard with the new rev, and stop your ears bleeding with the whine.

Thanks again HI DesertNM for the Dell presentation.

    Ozric

Just called up for a quote and asked if the new systems whine? The rep said that most of their current systems don't whine but all systems produced on or after November 17th, 2007 will never have whining problems.

Gunner remember everyone is within their warranty, so anyone with a whiny laptop can get a new motherboard (so good for all)

We're SOL, but I'm not sure how many people with Inspirons and Vostros are hit with the CPU whine in the first place...

But how long will it take for these new systems/motherboards to reach our shores? Are they here already? Or will they take another couple of weeks for the old stock to be depleted?

If you are not buying from the outlet you should be getting the new motherboard either with a new system or as a replacement! This is true for Dell USA for now!

Do you guys know about 1520s?? If I have 1 yr in home warranty, can I ask Dell to replace my 1520 motherboard?? Will that help???

And actually what about 1420s (my sis has one)???

    Thanks.

Why so few answers in a post so IMPORTANT for m1330 owners? Soon I will have my new "swaped" m1330 because mine has the whine, the page says preproduction today, although the rep said to me that was already in production... we will see if the new will have A04 bios, and if this certainly fix the whine.
Anyway if the only new thing is the bios, I assume that it will be possible to upgrade (well... "downgrade") the bios to eliminate the whine... but maybe the new systemas will have a little change in the hardware because else someone would affirm this fact...
EDIT: uh-oh... as I am in Europe and the post talk about Malasya I think maybe this will be not certain for Europe as our laptops are made in Ireland... :(

It took me about five replacements to get a TMD screen. I'm dreading getting a replacement, because knowing my luck, I'll get more crappy screens. The whine on my machine is really unbearable, though. What should I do? I could even get a tech to replace just the mobo, but they're known to be clueless. I dunno what to do now.

Displays are one thing, you are not likely to face problems with motherboard replacement. Don't worry. Just get it done.

Does any one know if there is an updated mobo for the 1520 and what the part number is?
