    Hi ,
i am planning to buy a Inspirion notebook .i use my notebook for office
    purpose too .
since i know that longhorn will be coming soon.i am curious if the
current inspirion machine be able to support the Longhorn ,Microsoft
sites says that the longhorn pc needs to have longhorn supporting
CPU.what will be the upgrade required ,if any

so will it be good idea to buy a inspirion right now or wait for few
    months

You probably could run Longhorn on any new PC from Dell. I ran Longhorn on a machine that was 4-5 years old, so it should run on all new PCs.
