i've decided to get a 6000, and much to my chagrin, the 35% off coupon has already been used up. since i've only started paying attention to Dell's deals for the past week, i'd like someone with more knowledge to clarify whether that was a good deal or not, or whether Dell offers better deals from time to time. I am not in a super-hurry, and saving an extra hundred or more would be worth the wait.

So basically, is there an exceptional deal that would be worth waiting for? i've picked a system whose unit price clocks in at $1527.

    TIA

I watched Dells site for around 6 months before I ended up ordering my 9300. The best deal I saw was 35% off. Used to be a rare deal but it seems like the 35% off has been starting up every two weeks for the past 2 months now.

My suggestion to you is set a price mark for yourself and if the current deal beats the price mark you set go for it. My price mark was 2000 as a college student that was the highest I could go while only putting myself in minimal debt. My 35% off got me under that by 200 so I went with it.

The 35% off coupon was preceded by an $800.00 off coupon which expired on March 31. The 35% off coupon was initiated on March 31st. I really hate dealing with Dell and their paramutual pricing schemes. If you purchase a computer then find Dell offering it for a lower price within your return time frame, you can call them up and threaten to return it and they may give you a credit. But you have to be constantly vigilant. It seems the best policy is to take your time, compare your configuration to other companies, then continue to monitor the price after you purchase.

I know things, things that could bore people to death.

monitor i will. it seems that the $xxx off deals may be better for someone like me, who will be spending less than $1500.

i remember seeing that $800 off deal and thinking 'hey - this would be a good time to buy a dell. to bad i'm not looking for a new laptop.' my laptop started going crazy 2 weeks later.
