It all depends on what the pc will be used for, whats the specs, price etc..

It helps preserve battery life and keep heat down, as it's voltage is so much lower than normal T5 or T7 series processor. Look here. You'll see the U7600 and how it compares to other dual-core processors.

The U series are the "ultra-low voltage" Intel C2D mobile processors while the T series are the regular C2D mobile processors. Both are "Merom" core processors but the T's use a 533MHz FSB while the U's use 533MHz, 667MHz or 800MHz FSB. Speed wise, 1.2GHz is fairly slow but is sufficient for web, email, movies, music and general office tasks. It won't cut it for most games, video encoding or HD decoding.

The D430 is an ultraportable notebook with emphasis on battery life. The U7600 is an ultra low voltage Core 2 Duo CPU. It is a very capable CPU in it's own right. It will run normal every day apps just fine.

The U7600 in my TZ does a great job with 720/1080 HD video. Though it does push it pretty hard.

There's not even a comparison, really. The T7300 will be between 40-50% faster, so if any sort of gaming or photoshopping or any other cpu intensive task is planned, the T7300 will be far superior.

The processor won't even be the main thing... the D430 uses a 1.8" hard disk (instead of the 2.5" on the D630 and most other laptops), so that will slow things down even more.

The D430 is designed for someone who cares a lot about having something small and lightweight and with good battery life... and not too much about performance.

I have a 1.4ghz celeron M on my dell 600m and it can handle almost everything I use (including video encoding...it just takes longer)

but there is absolutely no lag compared to my P4 3.0ghz
but then again the intel M is rated better than 1.4ghz compared to the P4

take a look at the outlet 1210's. they stay plenty cool, are plenty small, and have a 2.5" HD.

ive heard bad things about the 420's and heat. seems like fan goes ape pooh anytime it gets toasty.
