A number of you probably bought from Dell during a tax-free weekend about a month ago. Of course, Dell initially charged tax on those purchases, and I was concerned about their promise to credit it back later. But sure enough, I noted today that my Dell Account now includes a balance without the tax. Nice.

I'm in Atlanta also. Dell charges when they ship and then the tax is refunded a few weeks later? Or since i'ts been almost a month, didthey just charge you without tax? I used AMEX to buy mine.

I had a somewhat special case - I ordered and originally had a shipping address in a tax free state. Then when the delays hit, I needed it shipped elsewhere, to a taxed state (California) - I called and complained and got Dell to eat the tax (about $116) - and they said they would refund that 8 days after my laptop shipped.

Its been 5 days - so I'll know in 3 days if they are accurate.

I'm in TN, and the balance without tax appeared once it was shipped. They were "holding" the amount with tax for a while, but I noticed that it changed to the tax free amount as soon as I received my laptop.

I bought mine with Dell financing. I was originally billed the full amount with tax, as I said. I just noticed that the balance is now the tax-free amount. Not sure when it happened.
