    Just got my new 9100.

Out of the box, and the LCD is not working! According to Dell .."this can never happen since we tested it"......so right now I am on hold to get someone out here to fix it.

Not impressed with Dell at all.

I just received my inspiron 9100 yesterday, and I'm very very happy with it

I just wish now that I had gone for the 7200rpm hard drive, instead of settling for the 4200... I plan on upgrading that soon though, but otherwise, wow! this machine flies... and was surprisingly easy on the wallet... and looks/sounds/feels great

hope you get your problem resolved quickly so you can get to enjoying the laptop!

sounds like you received a laptop that belongs in the dreaded 'dead on arrival' category. this is known to happen, and it's possible that the shipping process rattled it around enough to aggravate a problem that already existed...even if they did test it before leaving the plant. sorry for your troubles here, maybe once it's working you'll become happier with Dell but they obviously have a lot to make up to you.

actually they did argue...because the laptop was "tested" and what I was seeing "could not happen" lol

its just an unlucky thing that can happen to anyone no matter what brand you bought. At least they are a good enough company to not argue you caused the problem.

Check to make sure that the LCD pin that shuts off the monitor when you close the laptop isn't stuck, my friend has the same problem with his 8600.

well, we called in the problem yesterday and this morning a guy got here to fix it.

Word of advice when you buy a laptop from dell - spring for the extra $60 @home service...fast and you don't have to ups the thing back to dell.

Dell has got a 1/1 score with me now.
