My XPS M1530 issues again...
I have once again been on the phone trying to get my screen replaced, it is the sixth time now and three weeks later... I have had three replacement screens sent to me all have been samsung even after requesting LG ONLY XK309!
I have now been escalated to a customer resolution rep. for the second time. He told me that they have had issues with the samsung and that they have been discontinued and are being fazed out... (I figure this means they are still selling them to people (sukers) till they are all gone!) He also told me they are now going to be using the LG 1680x1050 WSXGA+ monitors in the xps m1530!
He just came back from putting me on hold, He said that he has to get superior approval to send out a fourth monitor but that it would be a NEW LG XK309 shipped directly to me once approved. (I'm not going to hold my breath) But, I do hope they get it right this time.
I'm sick of staring at the crappy screen.

-
Wow if this is true I will be ONE HAPPY XPS OWNER!! (assuming the replacement being crafted up for me includes the XK309 and I'm not one of the last suckers to receive a samsung)
-
Well from the way he talked it sounded like they have plenty to get rid. So there is still a very good chance of getting a samsung. He said they were the replacement screen available in most of the warehouses. And that the LG is being fazed in... Which tells me you are more likely to get an LG if you custom build a new one.
-
yeah, that's possible. Since it's a replacement though, maybe my luck will be better this time around, but we will see. *fingers crossed*
-
I have a feeling that I'll be getting a Samsung on my M1530. I will be one unhappy OpenFace if that is the case.
My payment is still pending on PayPal, so hopefully that hurries up and goes through. How long could it possibly take?
When they send you a new screen do you have to put it on yourself?Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
That is good if it's true. But it's not very fair to those who have the samsung or those who returned the machine due to the screen. I assume if they are doing this it's soley because the returns and complaints.
There are so many cases where people contacted Dell and tried to get the LG only to have Dell tell them that it's not an option or it's out of stock. There's also lots of cases where Dell did tell people they would get the LG only to send out Samsungs. Those people suffered and won't get any satisfaction from Dell using LG now unless they purchase again... -
You got lied to.. Dell never does anything good.. You fell for their plan, which was use lines from a cheat sheet tittled 'last resort excuses', and you didn't just bite, you swallowed the damn hook.
If a LG comes, consider yourself one damn lucky person..
Dell has a 95% Customer Satisfaction, we're just the 5% that gets spit on and crapped on. We don't amount to anything in Dells eyes so they don't give a @#% what we say, no matter how many systems go back and no matter how many people complain.
We're entitled to working computers, no one ever said they we're gonna be flawless..
Good luck anyways.
Those Samsung screens are soooo terrible. -
I must be one of the lucky ones. I had to call twice, but the order for an LG screen got placed. A few days later, an XK309 came.
Now I just need to call Dell and have someone come out and install the damn thing.
My only suggestion is don't be an ******* on the phone. Treat every CSR like they are the first. Keep calm and if they sound like they are out of India, hang up and call again till you get someone in the USA. -
-
I really hope I don't have to call them again for the seventh time for an LG screen... I'm not asking for a flawless machine I'm asking for a usable machine.
I'm sorry but the samSUCK screens are horrible and not usable especially in a 1680x1050 screen! -
Just got confirmation on shipping and gulp!!! it's samsung...here's to hoping they have a new batch in and have corrected the issue...I will keep an open mind as there are peeps that have had awesome ones as well...I should never have checked and just used my eyes first ...oh well...and when I ordered this one I was very specific that I wanted the LG...so as far as I know I don't think you can specify unless you have an "in" in manufacturing...lol!!! I know this being the second one will be it...at $2000 CAD I will be fussy and will send it back if the problem still exists... but this prolly will be my last order until the newer screens and processors come out..cheers!!!! and crossing fingers!!!!

I have had the swap done 2 weeks ago. I have yet another xps 1530 with the same problem and I have been on the phone every single day for the last week. I am being told that LG is unavailable everywhere and that they ONLY have samsung. So the OP just doesn't jive with what I am being told.
-
I currently have a Samsung 1680x1050 screen. Its really not bad. The "grainyness", "sparklyness", etc. looks like most LCDs I have ever seen, desktop or laptop.
I am just getting the LG to see if there is a difference. If I never read these boards, I would be fine with it. -
I agree as there may have been a bad series of screens and of course everyone has their own opinions and degrees of analysis....it has definitely created a paranoia though and anyone noe will be really second guessing their purchase...of course there have been many samsung screens that are awesome and we just aren't hearing about those...so I would say that every brand has it's good and bad screens in some degree..here's to hoping that Dell has responded by upping the QC on these...before they receive them...cheers!!!

After six calls, three screens and three weeks of waiting for my screen to be replaced with a usable lcd (1680x1050) I have just received the following info.
I think I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!
Dude I'm getting an LG! -
There might be something to this. I just talked to tech support and initially she told me that she could only see Samsung. But, she said she would check. She then did find the LG and set up a dispatch.
Unfortunately, after thinking about it more I decided I should return the laptop after all. I just don't feel comfortable getting it serviced right after I got it. I hope they are indeed only using the LG now in new builds. I'm just that kind of person who dwells on stuff like this
Well, anyway the tech support today was great. The other times I called they just said things to the effect of "Oh well" "nothing can be done" "you should return the order" "all screens are grainy" "there's no problem". -
I hope your new XPS m1530 comes with an LG screen...
-
oredered mine on the 20th and it has the NEC
-
I just checked and it shows that my screen ordered yesterday has already shipped.
-
ino this has probably been asked many times but can somebody please confirm the screen brands and part numbers for the M1530 1200X800...
thansk you very muchly
EDIT - this is so i know what to ask Dell when i ring them for a new screen. -
Not to be to rude but, you need search the forum for info on the 1200x800 screens this thread is about the 1680x1050 samsung screens
-
ah sory found i think.
-
Man I will only go through this a second time and this Friday will be it. I will analyze the thing closely before I even turn it on. Last time I rushed through the whole process and was installing software etc...The next laptop will prolly be the 1720 if this doesn't work out as I have not heard any issues...I know there are customers that are happy with the Samsung but like everyone says it's the luck of the draw...even heard of some with issues on the LG so until the box is opened who knows ...I hope I am pleasantly surprised...

Please keep this post updated with news
I haven't heard people saying they got a samsung recently besides replacements and it sounds like more and more are able to get LG replacements. I'm hoping this is true and I'm hoping I can confirm it before tomorrow since that's when the discount goes away -
I got mine today! Now I need to get it installed!
I knew they existed! It only took me going through 7 reps and 4 screens! -
-
What Asus notebook is that? I'm looking at the JFL02 (Sager 2092) now.
I'm done with Dell for a while unless I hear official news about their screens and the discontinuation of the Samsung screens in particular... -
I do have to say that except for the LCD crap this is one of the nicest computers I have seen or used! Slim, Sleek & Very Fast. I can click to start Photoshop CS3 Extended and it is completely ready to use in less then 3 seconds! I have been told by two different customer service resolutions managers (not just techs) that the samsung monitors are fazed out and that they are using LG in the M1530.
-
.....Now about this CSR and the Samsungs.. he didn't give any specific dates did he.. as far as units that were shipped before/after X.. <_<>_>
-
We are all waiting to see how you find it for yourself. Hope to hear from you soon! -
Here's a link to a recently discounted notebook...if what my friends are saying about Asus is true...you are getting a quality notebook from a quality retailer...I'm sure you will have some familiarity with this retailer.

Whew, I just finished reading the 33 pages of the other thread, and the 4 here. I assume those reading are familiar with the issue.
One thing I was not completely clear on - is this mostly happening with 1680x1050?
Seems like most 1440x900 customers are getting the LG? -
allshookup, I hope your screen is good! If I could be certain to get an LG or at least a not SEC3350 then I would re-order in a second. The M1530 is definitely the best laptop I've used. It's super fast, light and sleek. All the more reason why I'm now bitter towards Dell for messing up a great laptop with a poor screen
timetopurchase, it seems a lot of 1440x900 customers get the LG. Some get a samsung but there seems to be a good chance for the LG. 1680 and 1280 seem to get Samsungs more often. However I'm hoping the news in this thread is true and Dell is done with the Samsungs.
I like that Asus link. I wish it were a 1680x1050 screen though! -
Hmmm, did anyone get further information as to whether they have stopped shipping the bad screen, or really plan to phase it out?
Also, what was the note about a new screen coming out in Feb for the 1530? -
mine xps should be coming tomorrow so we'll see if they have started to phase the screens out.

Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "When you were building it do you remember what the options were for the LCD selection?"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "High Resolution, glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1440x900) & 2MP Camera"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "High Resolution glossy widescreen 15.4 inch LCD(1680x1050) & 2MP Camera"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "i chose the 1680 x 1050"
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "That should be the LG."
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "really? how can you tell"
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "It is the higher resolution."
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "that does not make sense since my last two screens at that resolution were samsung"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "did they just change it"
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "Let me double check it then."
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "It was my understanding that the higher resolution screen was the LG."
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "You are getting another M1530 right?"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "yes"
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "I have now been escalated to a customer resolution rep. for the second time. He told me that they have had issues with the samsung and that they have been discontinued and are being fazed out... (I figure this means they are still selling them to people ("
sukers) till they are all gone!) He also told me they are now going to be using the LG 1680x1050 WSXGA+ monitors in the xps m1530!
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "that was also posted by someone who said they talked to someone at dell"
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "Then the monitor you are getting should be the LG."
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "ru still double checking"
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "The monitor should be the LG."
Agent (XPSOTT Geoff_102752): "I went to the build site to check if there was a way to select Samsung vs LG, no way to select, but the only 1680x1050 there should be the LG."
Geoff Pisarkiewicz: "thats so good to hear"
He could not confirm what my screen was, I just ordered another m1530 last night, since it's still in production. -
Did you guys have the same first name?
-
They should be coming to install my new LG screen tomorrow!
I'll post more when they do! -
My M1530 is scheduled to arrive tomorrow, according to the status provided by the DHL phone line, so I'm extremely excited. I'm still a bit paranoid about ending up with a Samsung. The odds of me getting an LG are low, given that I ordered the 1680x1050 screen which are predominantly Samsung parts.Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015 -
I talked to a Dell Tech Support Rep on the phone, and from what him and his supervisor said, they have or will discontinue the Samsung screen and go to the Lg.
Hopefully he is right, and my lg screen should be here tommorw! -
Sounds like more people are confirming this report, a very good thing
-
Unfortunately, it was too late for me. I returned it and waiting for my refund.
I bought an acer, although windows performance index is not at 4.8, its equally good. -
-
-
Anyone get a new 1530 with a WSXGA+ (1680x1050) recently? I wonder if they got a non-samsung screen or not. There haven't been many complaints about the screen recently...
-
I ordered my replacement on 1/23, and I have yet to even get an order number generated for it. I'm wondering (and hoping) that the delay is due to the screen, and making sure its NOT a samsung.
-
Not at all suggesting this isn't a real problem, just that it must vary from unit to unit, or perhaps I'm just blind..
-David -
For me the grain wasn't the worst issue but the bad viewing angles. If I looked at the screen straight on then the top and the bottom wwere darker. If I moved my head slightly or the screen then the top might be fine but the bottom worse and vice versa.
-
I just ordered a Vostro 1500 with a WXSGA+ 1680x1050 screen. Does anybody know if the same issue applies here? Which screens does that line offer?
Dell discontinues Samsung 1680x1050 WSXGA+!
