I have the strangest thing going on with my 1505. When I turn on, the start up screen comes on for a few seconds and then the screen goes blank. When I attach the laptop to an external monitor, the monitor works. So what would cause my laptop display to show for a few seconds and then disappear. If it was the display, wouldn't you think that it would not display at all?

Is the display kinda reddish? Are there any funny buzzing or squealing sounds? It's probably something with the backlight/inverter, and it's not rare for those to do funny things when dying.

If you boot to safe mood does the display work? could be a driver issue or if your resolution is set higer than your monitor can support it will go black.

I actually was able to extend my Dell warranty last night and will now let Dell figure it out. I can' t believe they will extend your expired warranty without checking you computer out?

Yes they love to extend warranties for some reason. But it's worth it to the consumer though, might as well get the complete care package.

Yes indeed. I called Dell and they are sending someone over this week armed with a new display panel, motherboard and video card. They think it is the display. So $125 extension of the old warranty will be well worth it! Everyone keep that in mind as your warranties expire (if you thought enough to even get one!).
