A friend's e1505 doesnt seem to be powering up.
The Power LED does turn on when pressed, but beyond that the screen is absolutely blank - no bios screen, nothing.. and there is no sign of any progress from the rest of the system. Nothing has happened to it and it was working perfectly fine till it was turned off and turned on a day or two later.
A dell CC rep said it looks to be a dead motherboard. Is there any other possible issue we could be overlooking?
Thanks in advance![]()

are you using AC power or battery turning it on? try 1 at a time and see what happens. if the same problem, does the fan come on or does anything come on? if not, then more than likely it is indeed a dead mobo.

Sorry for bumping this up after so long. Anyway, fortunately it turned out to be much less serious - was just a dead RAM stick. System seems to be working fine now
Thanks brianj, the friend tried those steps as well including removing the battery etc. From what i know everything was powering on except there was no progress and a blank screen. Out in the desktop segment, the RAM sticks are the first component we check in such a situation and i should have suggested the same !
