So, my perfectly nice WXGA LG glossy screen got a lot of random dead pixels over the few months I've had it. So I took the dive and requested it be replaced, so I got a 'screen replacement kit' sent out.

Screen arrives 3 days late from the date I was told it would be here (lovely lost work hours thanks to it).

Open it up with much anticipation - Bam - Slapped in the face with a rotten fish.

A Matte, Samsung WXGA screen. MATTE!!! I hate matte, they know I picked glossy but they give me a matte. So I shrug it off and figure 'no more looking at my sexy reflection anymore but oh well'. so I hook it up just to see how it is.

O..M..F..G.. On a scale of 1-to-10, that ugly sonva***** gets a 99,999 - Disgustingly grainy, Samsung should be ashamed to even manufacture products of that quality.

I call Dell immediately, was put on hold for 15 minutes while they check out the 'issue'. Then he comes back and rambles something along the lines, 'oops the dispatch guy grabbed the wrong screen'.

Ok, w.e - So I take the dive and request another, and ask if he can try and add a note or something I want an LG. Even though I know they won't do anything - Guess what I'm told?

'No sir you cannot upgrade your screen, we replace exactly what you have'
(exactly how he said it word for word, poor grammar and all)

Obviously I said a LG, not a 'upgrade'.

So he says after I repeat the request that they cannot promise that. I completely understand so I just asked him to do what ever he can.

So I hang up, and await my second screen to come.

Amazingly. it arrives exactly 15 hours after the phone call, meanwhile the other one took over 6 days.. Lmfao.. Varied results there but sweet, quick no complaints.

Look on the side of the box and it says Samsung.. I was immediately very skeptical they got it right, and sent a glossy screen. Because both cables and code names were identical on the labels for the matte and glossy.

Open the box - yay - a glossy. So I hook it up and everything looked funny, almost blurry?! Then it hits me... I got a WSXGA+ screen.

Seriously.. What the hell man... lol

They replace with exactly what you originally have right - so buddy tells me yesterday on the phone (I obviously knew that they don't offer upgrades and such). so they send a like $150 - $200 dollar worth of a upgrade - free.

As for the screen. Zero light leakage, perfect color reproduction, but terribly grainy.

I'm debating to stick with it, or not to. I'm worried they'll charge me if I keep it. But then again if they did I'd tell them to shove it because they sent me it.

? Stick with nice LG but with dead pixels ?

    or

? Keep the fancy WSXGA+ which appears to be perfect besides for semi mediocre grain. ?

GOD - no wonder people are pissed.

    No way lol.

This laptop is way better then any of the other ones I ever used/owned.

I didn't have screen issues until I cracked my first one then replacement LG got dead pixels.

    Now it's just chaos. lol

My eyes are gonna bleed from this grain.. I'm thinking put the LG back.

The "grainy" issue could be a PITA if you are very picky.

I am and really couldn't take looking @ the "dust" like effect on white / light backgrounds.

But dead pixels are nothing to disregard either. If your screen has developed a few in a short period of time, you should have it replaced with a good one!

    I don't blame you..

I feel like putting both Samsung screens in the box and lighting that on fire.

Better yet, put them in my wood burning stove. It's heated up nicely right now with bright red glowing coals.

I hope you bought accidental damage coverage for your m1530, because I think you may have a hard time claiming "spontaneous combustion" for your warranty. Heh heh.
