Late last week l requested the installation disks of the cd burning and dvd watching programs that came with my E1405 because after l reformatted l didn't have them. So the rep l was talking to sent them out next day air. l just got them now and they sent me a few other things. In addition to what l requested l also got another reinstallation disk for MCE and another drivers disk.
Also l have a question: Does the reinstallation MCE disk work on all dells or just the E1405?

The disk will work with other computers but if the license is already in use it's not lawful to use it on another computer.

Metamorphical Good computer user
Really you can't use a liscense more than once. You won't be able to update windows and ofcourse you won't be able to activate it when the 30 day grace expires. Lol, don't call the 1-800 bate numbers they'll give you for tech support to. I think Dell OEM disks will work with other dell machines if your use the key on the windows xp sticker (Like the one on the one on the bottom of your laptop) for the machine you wish to format windows on.

i used to have a gateway xp pro cd, and i installed it on my old dell and it worked perfectly. i could update windows and everything. all you have to do is use the cd-key that is on the computer that came with the cd.

Technically, you can only install Dell XP discs on dell systems. It doesn't have to be the same as the previous system (AFAIK) but because of legal issues, you should install it on the system that has the license to match it.
We've had users try to install XP on laptops other than dell, and it generally has resulted in failure. -
l knew the legal issues with this subject l was just curious if it would still work on other systems.
Dell has sent me a few gifts
