Look at this that I posted in the credit/return request forum. I am so angry at Dell right now, there is no reason for this!

I canceled Customer number: with Order number: on Dell University and was promised credit return within 24 - 48 hours, I have not recieved credit for weeks. Please explain

I also had ordered Customer Number: Order Number: on Dell Home & Office . I was fine with this order until one day later when a new coupon came out that drasticaly lowered the price of my laptop. I spoke to Randy at 800 - 999 - 3355 ext and he explained to me that in order to take advantage of the new coupon, I would need to create a new order, and then he would decline the payment, and then transfer the payment from order to my new order. I asked him SPECIFICALLY if this would charge my credit card again, because I was already in a situation where dell was not returning the credit of canceled order 327531390, and Randy said "We will Not charge your credit card, it will be transfered from the current payment."

Upon checking my debit account tonight, Randy had successfully charged me for the third laptop.

I currently only owe Dell customer Number: Order Number: on Dell Home & Ofice for $937.97
Currently my credit card is being charged by Dell for $1012.75

Currently my debit card is being charged by Dell for $2038.35

Total in current funds being withheld currently by Dell is $3051.10

Funds that I legally owe Dell: $ 937.97

Funds that Dell Legally owes me :$2113.13

Right now, Randy has may cost me the payments of my Rent, Utilities, and Phone bills if this account discrepency is not solved within 24 - 48 hours. Randy lied to me. This is wrong and must be corrected immediately or else I will suffer harm from this act.

Barry case mgr. (800) 626 9537 ext 11334, has been contacted by the Dell Financial Support, and has been requested to solve my Credit Card discrepancy for the cancelation made for the "Dell University" laptop (Case #) Barry has not solved this issue for over a week after being contacted. Please remove Barry from my case and put someone who will fix the issue within 24-48 hours.

Both cancelations were made only a few days after credit card approval. All of the needed information is before you, I expect that your reputation in Customer Service will live up to its reputation.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

Dell is excellent at holding money and creating such a confusing transaction that you have to either have a CPA to figure it out, or you have to put each transaction on a different account.
    Case in point:
I ordered a 9300 and put it on my Dell Preferred Account.
I was charged around $2300 on my $4000 limit - that had a Zero balance.
The same day, I wanted to change my order. They said I had to cancel my order and create a new order. They cancelled my order.
I went to reorder, but the balance was still on my Dell Preferred account, and it said I did not have enough funds to cover the new order. They said it would take 30 DAYS to credit me back.

    I bought a 9300 on my MC. I was charged $2307.
The week after delivery, I found a new Dell coupon that saved me $300+.
I returned the 9300 for full credit of $2307.
I went to reorder on my Dell Preferred card 3 weeks later from my original cancel. Still not enough credit available.

I put the new Dell at $1957 on my Visa.
I received an email that my $2307 MC credit was processed and would be posted.

I didn't check my MC account, but I was floating Dell $6000+ .
They must be in the business of floating millions. Pays for that offshore phone support in India I suppose.

Dell is horribly slow at returns and credits. It took them 4 weeks to process my return credit. Locked up my credit card too.

you would think that having all that money from people that they owe would ruin their estimates of how much money they REALLY make?

Heart - yes you are correct, you stated to me before the way to handle things with Dell to set things right. But with my Dell Preferred account, they told me it would still take 30 days. Remember when I said, "I didn't put the matter" and you replied back to me and said "You need to push the matter". Again, you were correct. I'm not sure why they just cannot refund an order automatically, when an order in not even in Production yet.
I used my business account to buy a Dell Axim last year, and I worked with an account rep over the phone. After ordering, I wanted to cancel my order. I sent emails, voicemails, birds with notes tied to their feet, I couldn't get my rep to call me back and cancel my order. The order eneded up being shipped to me and became I nightmare. I didn't realize I simply could have "refused" the shipment and had it sent back. I didn't learn that until I dealt with customer service. They pleaded to me that everything would be worked out. It was a real mess.
I wrote back to the account rep and told him I would be buying HP for my business because this was handled so terribly.
I think you are right Heart, you have to stay on the phone until you get a supervisor or someone who can make a decision to help you out. Otherwise, I don't have time to sit on the phone and pray, that when they transfer me, the connection won't drop. LOL

This makes good "business sense" for the company. Consider it like an interest free loan which they can invest for a month without repercussion.

MoZirry: I would edit the post since that customer number is someone's "in" for your account, as well as the order number.

He who asks is a fool for five minutes, but he who does not ask remains a fool forever.

Does anyone else ever contact the Better Business Bureau when they're having trouble with Dell? It's not hard to do and if Dell starts recieving numerous complaints through the Bureau they'll more likely have to start responding in a more costumer service oriented manner. I really think that holding peoples money for as long as possible is a calculated business plan.

I know things, things that could bore people to death.

Ahh is it just me or are you returning non broken items just to save a few hundred bucks and cause yourself more trouble. LOL... Just wait and deal with what you got yourself into. I mean come on your changed an order a few times, returned a computer, and then reordered. That in itself is flipping messed up considering you are shipping the computer to who knows where and let me just state it THE COMPUTER WAS PERFECTLY FINE!

Really if you weren't happy with the price you were getting the notebook for why order it in the first place?

Actually I am not sympathetic to people with cash problems because if you have cash problems you shouldn't be buying a brand new notebook in the first place.

It's like buying a car on credit and then complain about having a problem paying for general daily stuff like food and housing.

Learn to manage your money and to shop smarter. IE looking around before you purchase something and accepting the item you purchased. Like I said before if you were happy with the price of the computer before why are you now dissatified with something? Just cause something better came around.

Well here's a newsflash for you THERE IS ALWAYS GOING TO BE BETTER DEALS!

Deal with it that's the cost of being a consumer. You buy something and later on there's something else to entice your eyes.

If you wanted a cheaper computer you should have just not placed an order and wait till you got a deal you were satisfied with or is that even possible?

In the end if dell gives you your money back no matter how long it takes you cannot say they stole from you. The word steal indicates that you are claiming the company has no intention of giving your money back and is falsely charging you items you never placed.

Laziness indeed. No I believe that if you are a consumer you should be satisfied with the price and the thing you purchase. If something costs more then you think it is worth you would not buy said item. If it was worth buying at that moment when you pulled out your credit card/cash then you should be satisfied with the transaction/deal you got.

It is ludacrious to say, "Hey I just bought this for $1000 and now they are selling it for $800. I think I'm going to go return the item just cause it is cheaper now. Man they better be quick about it since I am a customer."

It would be like going to a car place buying a car and every 10 days trying to return it just cause you want a different car and expecting no problems.

It's called abusing the return policies. Granted if there is a reason to actually return something like manufacture defect by all means go ahead.

Take for instance this case. My friend goes and buys a $500 video card. Overclocks the **** out of it and fries it. Well now he goes to bestbuy and buys the same card for less. Then he returns the fried card saying it was defective and gets store credit. This is just plain wrong.

Abusing return policies just so you can maximize future deals just screws it up for the rest of the honest consumers who truly have problems. It also clogs their system and makes businesses believe alot of the consumers aren't good ones with real problems with their product.

wow mike, that could quite possibly be one of the most uninformed replies ive ever seen on this board.

First of all, in the retail business, it's called a "Price Match Guarantee". Usually what this "guarantee" is, is that you can return your product, or show reciept, within the return period (which is usually around 30 days), and ask for a refund if the price has changed.

Why do they do this? Well, to be frank, it makes customers happy.

How would you feel if you walked into best buy, and bought a new DVD player, and then came in the next day and saw that the price had been drastically lowered?
Who in their right mind would say to themselves, "Well, you know what, Since I bought this yesterday, I obviously am not entitled to a price match guarantee with this same exact product that is now half its normal price."
Hell no, you go and complain to the manager to get the price fixed.

Hmm... Why do they fix the price for us you ask? Well, with my experience in retail, they sort of have to!

If retail businesses were not held accountable to their volatile pricing, could you imagine how angry people would be if they kept on changing their prices every day?

As a customer, you expect to buy something for a reasonable price, and you expect that the reasonable price will exist for a reasonable time, before a new sale or the product deteriorates in value.

So if I buy a 1,000.00 dollar laptop from Dell, and the next day that same exact laptop is only worth 850.00 dollars, don't you think I'm entitled to that price?

Mike, just be an informed shopper, it will save you money. Otherwise you are just letting yourself get cheated by the big corporations.

"For instance are you telling me all the people who bought their computer when there was only a $200 off coupon should now be entitled to say hey now I can get $750 off. I should be paid that difference back?"

Yes I am, so long as it is within a reasonable time frame.

I don't understand why you are so willing to let corporations cheat you out of getting the best deal possible.

Do you work for Dell or Best Buy or something?

Well the "stealing" word is hard, but then again if the law requires banks and such to either give you provisional credit or an exact date of re-deposit in "fraud" cases, (I worked for a bank) then Dell and every merchant, of any kind, should be just as diligent in credit errors. But thats my opinion.

    Heart,
In a sense, I agree with ya. My thinking is that the "seller" is responsible for the collection and "correct" processing of any payment.
It works hand in hand with fraud, it all comes down to liability.
What they say or dont say on their "web site" is not disclosure in the eyes of the law. Its just information thats required for a "buyer" to be able to make an informed purchase. But you can also say that this guy, in this case, might not have covered "all his bases".He wasnt as proactive as I would of been, in my opinion. But that doesnt excuse anything.

I don't work for any company. And they are not cheating me because I was willingly to purchase whatever item they were overing at that time for a particular price. It is an agreement.

What you are trying to say is everyone should be able to back out of an agreement just because they now can save more money. And it's greedy, irresponsible, and plain stupid.

You are crying over something you caused yourself and trying to use words that aren't exactly accurate so people will believe and validate your point of view.

Yah yah maybe the majority thinks like you, yah yah I have my own opinion that is not likely the change, and yah yah you want to cry over spilt milk. You got your debit credit back since that is usually harder then credit and you still want to whine how dell screwed you over.

Well guess what you did it to yourself. If you don't like dell because you think they are stealing from you then don't do business with them, plain and simple.

Ignorance isn't an excuse to whine, but in your case I'll offer you some cheese!...

    I simply don't get it...

I see nothing wrong w/ what Mike is saying... What's up with the hostility?

Often times it's the consumer trying to exploit "loopholes", to see what extra stuff they can get out of the company -- these consumers are the ones keeping the price high for the REST of us.

The only issue I see regarding the original post, was that if Dell doesn't return the money right away, they need to give the money to you plus any interest accued during that period(money market prime rate). This is what most companies do if they ever withheld paychecks from their employees -- they are legally bound to compensate you for those extra days money were withheld.

    cheers,

    yass

I hear what he's saying and with this comment you just made Mikeakajb does not agree with it at all. This is way too odd. The hostility comment....where besides Mikeakajb and maybe you.

Whoa there slow down... First of all, you are not Mike so refrain from making any assumptions as to what he may or may not be agreeing. Let's see what he has said:

"What you are trying to say is everyone should be able to back out of an agreement just because they now can save more money. And it's greedy, irresponsible, and plain stupid."
I agree. -- which, if you bothered reading my post on the matter:

"Often times it's the consumer trying to exploit "loopholes", to see what extra stuff they can get out of the company -- these consumers are the ones keeping the price high for the REST of us."

    and earlier:

"But the point is to think that you are ENTITLED to it just because either you didn't pay attention or didn't care in the first place, is just plain greedy. How would someone who waited for the deal because they couldn't afford the full price feel, if they realised that their spots are taken by those who were perfectly happy with their original purchased price, but just want to take advantage of something they shouldn't really have gotten?"

it's exactly what I echoed. As to what you wrote:

"It's heart. Don't waste your breath with this guy. He's not worth it and you wont get anywhere!"
"I refused to go into all the detail you both know I usually would...with this Mikeakajb. Do you know how hard it was to hold back." etc etc...

at any rate the tone is obviously rather hostile. We are all entitled to our own opinions, there is really no need to point fingers at other ppl if their views differ from that of yours.

    cheers,

    It's simple hog

If you feel that it's not worth the effort -- just DON'T POST. There's no point in posting 3 different msgs telling other ppl that it's not worth THEIR effort as well -- you are simply attempting to belittle someone else's opinion on the matter. If personally, you feel that you have nothing more to contribute to a particular thread, STOP. What other ppl write or do not write, respond or do not respond, really isn't your business.

Also, I know you are sick, sorry to hear that, but as you said, it isn't relevant to anything here, you really don't need to mention it in every other post -- we GOT IT, you are sick. Several of my friends has had family members pass away to cancer, and I've seen my share of patients where I interned. Lets just keep here objective and lively.

    cheers,

    yass

You are telling me life is short! You're a complete COLD HEARTED Jackass (Pure ice in your veins ) !!! Not one but 2 posts to me and talking about wasting posts for no reason. Your's is the worst reaon.....<hr height='1' noshade id='quote'></font id='quote'></blockquote id='quote'>

    vice versa.

At any rate I'm here to exchange information and experience with fellow Dell laptop owners, it is the sole reason. I've given I hope useful advices and taken some myself. Whether I'm "cold hearted" or not, an assumption you are wholly NOT qualified to make -- as you do not know me, nor me, you; is not of your, nor mine concern.

    cheers,

I find it interesting that you feel obligated to continue reading and replying to stuff Heart.

By the way it is not off based to claim his subject does not matter because he started from the git go lying and slandering Dell's name. Claiming something that is totally false is oughterly ridiculous.

To assume that I can't see it from the other person side is bs also because I can see it his way. I however choose not to even stoop to that level of stupidity and give validation to his reason to make such an outrageous claim against a company like Dell.

There is also nonsense in assuming your way of thinking is much better then mine when you are guilty of the same yourself and your opinion.

In short get off your high horse and be truthful in your word not to waste even more time on me and this post!!

I only still waste time because I find it really hilarious. Plus I'm bored =)

PS. Mo are you now going to cancel your order and re order one just because there is a 50% coupon coming out? Hehe

No, because the 750 dollar coupon IS 50% off of my total order.

However, if there were a 75% coupon available I may consider returning the laptop.

I just think that you are jealous because I know how to save myself money while you throw yours away to the highest bidder.[8D]

    right on yass

Heart, I appreciate the backup, but honestly, I don't check the boards all that much, and now this thread is so long I haven't even read the whole thing because it isn't even about my topic anymore. So thats why I haven't been posting on it.
