My Dell inspiron 1100 14.1" XGA screen cracked when I picked it up and now I have to replace it. So I figured that I would upgrade the screen to a 15" XGA at the same time. I purchased a used one on Ebay and when I hooked it up and the screen tuned on but appeared light fuzzy and with a yellowish/green tint (almost like not all the pixels were lit properly). Also I could only view the top left 2/3rds of the background in the window. Could anyone help me determine what could be the problem or even if this screen is compatible with my computer? From what I’ve read the 1100 model computer should be capable of using a 15" screen but I’m not sure if maybe another supporting piece of hardware would need to be upgraded as well for the screen to be compatible. The computer currently uses an intel 82845G Graphics controller. Thanks for any help.

I'm assuming you already had to replace the entire display assembly, including the display cable? Depending on whether or not your display is XGA or SXGA+, you may need a different display cable. Failing that, I'd just check your connections again; there should be like three total connections on the display cable thing, and they're all fairly prone to poor seating.
