I read review on
http://www.studentbuyingguide.com/2008/09/dell-inspiron-15-review/
and it says:
"Noise
The Inspiron 15 is fairly quiet, though at times the fans did get a bit noisy. Basically you wont hear this notebook at all in an environment with ambient noise, but if youre in a library like quiet environment you might bother those nearby with some fan noise."
Well, I need it for studying in library so I need quiet laptop.I'm considering to buy this but I'm worried about fan noise.
What have you experienced in this laptop use?
-
Any library you go to will have desktop computers several orders of magnitude louder than the Inspiron 15 fan. Besides, the fan will really only spin up if you're doing some intense stuff like gaming, which I assume you won't be doing in a library.
-
Yes I read that review, all three of the 1555's we have are very quite!
I can't say enough of how much we love them! -
No games in library -
Well, I think this is not 1555. This is
Dell inspiron 15
Intel Dual Core procesor T4200 2.0GHz / 1MB L2 Cache / 800MHz FSB
15.6" WXGA Wide White-LED display (1366 x 768)
2GB (1x2) 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 RAM
320GB Serial-ATA (5400)
8x DVD±/R/±RW Double-Layer
ATI Mobility Radeon HD4330 grafika 512MB -
I do not have inspirons, but at that price why not look at the studio? -
WHAT?! My dell studio 1555 fan makes some pretty loud audible noises when I play games dude.. I'm sure it does for you too
-
If you want a whisper quiet machine you're going to be better off looking for a more expensive model with:
1. a ULV processor
2. Integrated graphics
3. SSD instead of HDD -
A fanless cooling system might work too, although you usually only find that in netbooks.
I suppose if you really want to bother, you can disconnect your fan cable from your motherboard while you're at the library, but don't forget to plug it back in before you start a game. -
set your GPU to power saving mode and undervolt your CPU. Doubt you'd hear the fan turn on hardly ever then.
-
which processor remains cooler though? the P#### or the T####? I got the P7350 instead of the T6500 thinking Ps remain cooler..
-
The P-series processors draw 25W at peak, the T-series draws 35W peak. Less power generally leads to less heat, so the P-series will run a bit cooler. Not much, mind you.
