One of my friends complained that his laptop always shutted of because of heating up.
He gave it to me to see what I can do. I thaught to clean the laptop from dust and that's it.

But when I turn on the laptop, the power led is turning on, but don't hear anything, not even the fan. I turned over the laptop to see if the fan is spinning nothing. But I was in an environment where a person was speaking. Screen is black and nothing happens.

After I came home , I opened the laptop, have cleaned it (dust on processor fan). Powering up the laptop, gives the same results. But 3 seconds later I hear the hard disk for a few seconds. I hear for a second time the same sound, but it seems the hard disk cannot bootup.

14 seconds after starting the laptop, I hear the fan spinning!! Shouldn't the fan start working immediately.

I tried my working harddisk, same results. But maybe it's the dvd drive that makes that strange sound, I wil check it by disconnecting it. But I do see the led of the hard disk turning on for a second If I hear that strange sound.

    BIOS is not accessible.
    Screen stays black.
There are no beep codes. If I remove the RAM modules, the motherboard does give a correct beepcode.

Can I say that the motherboard is not completely dead but as good as?
