    Dell inspiron 17r Special Edition International warranty in India.

    Hi,

    I'm willing to buy a Dell Inspiron 17r Special Edition laptop from USA .
    The config that I'm willing to buy is listed here :-

    The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

    I intend to take this laptop to India and use it there .

    So I want to know whether I'll get the warranty coverage for this laptop in India after tag transfer .?

    For your information , the Inspiron 17r model that is available in India :-

    My Configuration from US :-
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3610QM processor (6M Cache, up to 3.3 GHz)

    Configuration available in India:-
    3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3630QM processor (6M Cache, up to 3.4 GHz)


    2). Video Card

    My Configuration from US :-
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GDDR5 2GB

    Configuration available in India:-
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M GDDR5 2GB (3D)


    3). Display

    My Configuration from US :-

    17.3" Full High Definition (1080p) LED Display with Anti-Glare

    Configuration available in India:-

    17.3" 3D Capable FHD WLED True-Life (1920x1080)

    4). Optical Drive

    My Configuration from US :-

    8X Tray Load CD/DVD Burner (Dual Layer DVD+/-R Drive)

    Configuration available in India:-

    12.7" Tray Load Blu-ray (BD) Combo Drive (BD Read Only)

    So since components are different , will Dell India import the appropriate parts from USA .??

    Can someone please clarify how will the warranty coverage be done because I'm planning to buy Extended warranty in the US , which would only be worth it if I'm assured that i get complete warranty coverage for my laptop here in India .

    Please suggest what to do .

    The “Dell International Service Program” provides service and support for your Dell notebook computer while you are with it outside of the country in which it was originally purchased. To qualify for international service, you must purchase the Next Business Day On-site Response Service. The International Notebook Service is for customers who are traveling with their Commercial notebooks for a period of less than 6 months. Any period of time longer than 6 months requires a Global Tag Transfer to be completed. Please use the below mentioned link to read more about the international Warranty Services.

    What Will happen if some part needs replacement .?

    Fo Eg:- As stated above my config in US has a core i7 3610QM CPU , while the config available in India has core i7 3630QM CPU .

    So Will Dell India replace my motherboard with the one they have ( i.e with the one having core i7 3630QM CPU .?)

    OR Will Dell India import the motherboard with core i7 3610QM CPU from the US .?

    OR Will Dell India have a motherboard with core i7 3610QM CPU in their stock irrespective of the fact that it is not available in the config available in India .?


    Please clarify what happens in such cases .? Can Dell India deny support to me in this case also .? Or will they be obligated to Import the part / Replace it with a compatible one they have .?

    Please reply asap ....

    I certainly understand your concern regarding part availability. Normally, we replace defective parts with the 'like' parts. However, if a 'like' part is not available, the replacement part will be the next available upgrade for the same. At any point the replacement part will not be a downgrade.

    Okay , and if i buy the 3 Year enhanced protection plan in the US along with the Laptop , then it'll also be valid in India right .? I'll get 3 year warranty in India as well right .?

    I've purchased the 3 years enhanced support which includes 3 Year Basic In-Home Service after Remote Diagnosis with Next Business Day On-site Response Service . So it'll be valid in India for 3 yrs right .?
