Am looking to purchase a new battery as I need to bring it to university with me. But would need it to last at least 4 hours as there is no plug points for laptops in the lecture theatres. I have the standard 6 cell battery. Just wondering if I purchased the 9 cell how long would the battery life last for?

Also, I have noticed a lot of them are being sold on ebay, they look like compatible ones. Which would be better to buy the original or the compatibles and what are the difference in battery lifes between them?

since a 9 cel is 50% larger than a 6 cel, you can reasonably assume that, all things being equal, a 9 cel battery will probably last you about 50% longer than your 6 cel does.

I wouldn't fancy carrying a 17" machine around campus all day and then searching for enough space to open it up.

This review indicates a battery life of > 3hrs but doesn't state the battery capacity. However, a 17" display would need a lot of power for the backlight and my guess would be that the review machine had a 9 cell battery. 15.4" display + 9 cell might get to 4 hours.

I have a 9300 and a 9 cell and the battery life sucks.

With brightness 10/10 and no power management, it didn't last near 3 hours brand new.

I cant imagine trying to lug this thing to class, by it self it weighs too much and combined with books and other **** it would be way to heavy to lug all over campus on a daily basis.

I picked up a m1210 to bring to class and have found it about perfect for that purpose.
