    Hello all,
I have a Dell inspiron E1505. My issue is that last week I noticed that my touchpad (mouse) moves erratically (shaky), not very smooth when moving around. I thought it was a virus so I reinstalled windows 7 and installed all the drivers and so fourth. It came to conclusion that it was still doing the same thing. I didn't update my bios though, but if I do and still get the same issue, what could this problem be? Please help this is really killing me, as I use this laptop for school. But when I use an external mouse that plugs into the usb, it works fine, but I don't want to walk around with a wireless mouse. I appreciate it thanks!

Default drivers should be fine, as should the synaptics driver. Not sure about Win7, but I don't see that being an issue for the default drivers. If you try the boot diagnostics and loading a Linux LiveCD and still have jerkiness in there, you have a hardware issue. Dell replaced my entire palmrest when I complained about it under warranty, so I don't know if you can just replace the touchpad assembly alone.

Try one thing , uninstall the touchpad driver , and install the latest driver frm support.dell.com and then check whether the touchpad works fine or not ?
if no go then check in save mode whether there it works fine or not ?
still no go might be the issue is with the touchpad , so as u told that u also reinstalled the OS
