I have been watching youtube 4k videos on the 15inch macbook pro with retina display since 2012 and they are stunning, I recently watched them for the first time on a sharp 32inch 4k monitor in the apple store and they were evening more stunning.
I can't quite afford a macbook pro retina or toshiba p50t or dell xps15, they all use i7u processors. I am interested in the inspiron 17 5000 notebook which has a full hd screen but doesn't have the gt750m of the 7000 series.
I was told by a dell advisor that they wouldn't be able to output at 3840x2160 30hz since they use the u rather than hq processor. I thought it was just a matter of the graphics card?
The asus chromebox is advertised as being 4k with an i3u and intel hd4400. 60hz is not essential for me, youtube videos are only 30 hz and I don't expect 4k60 10bit 4:2:2 to become commonplace until anytime soon which by then standards will become more mature and hardware acceleration for hevc/vp9 will be more common. I plan on connecting the laptop to a 4k monitor such as the affordable 28 inch tn models or a 4k tv.

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
All Haswell "H" and "U" SKUs support 4k video at at least 30Hz. Assuming the Inspiron 7000 implements an HDMI revision that supports 4k resolutions, there should be no reason why it doesn't work.
Dell inspiron laptops capable of 3840x2160 4k uhd output
