Hi. I have a dell inspiron 1501 with vista premium, and recently it's really slow with loads of viruses etc. so i tried to restore it to factory settings.

i started it up, pressed f8, and clicked Dell factory Image restore (there's a recovery partition on it that stores the image). so it formatted the windows partition, started restoring the factory image, and then half way through it brings up an error box with no text, just an ok button.

There's no error log, no error message that i can see.

i can still get to the F8 menu though. so my question is, is there a way for me to recover the laptop manually from the command prompt? or anything else i can try?

    thanks

Do you have your Dell recovery CDs? If so, we can step you through a factory restore process.
